And the season has officially started on the Seminole Pro Tour! This weekend we are at Mr. Cues II in Atlanta being hosted by the very gracious Richard Sweet, his daughter Mandy, and the many others on their staff who are helping.

We are a little low on player numbers this weekend with 33, but boy does the field pack a punch.

Some notable names include:
Corey Deuel
Gabe Owen
Mike Davis
Earl Strickland
Stevie Moore
Ronnie Wiseman
John Schmidt
and some really strong players from around the area.

Due to the random draw, look forward to some early strong matchups
(Schmidt vs. Moore at 11am!)

I really hope to see some of you guys make it over to Mr. Cues this weekend. There will be some great pool, along with an overall solid atmosphere thanks to the spectators that have come out to support the event.

I'll report in tomorrow afternoon from the tournament table!

Gnight! :)

Kevin

Archer's not in?

Where are Johnny Archer and Kim Davenport hiding this weekend? I am also surprised that there is not a strong showing from the Carolinas. This is a great event in a great city. I am sure the fans are in for a treat.

not sure where more of the players are...i heard there was a tournament in louisiana that some people are playing in?

also...no live streaming from this event. We are hoping to tape the finals and HOPEFULLY propoolvideo.com might get back online in the coming months.

Kevin,
I believe that if you use a site such as Ustream, that once the stream is recorded, it can be stored there so others can watch it at a later date. I believe that streaming the events is an awesome way to develop a following for any regional tour. If you need any help with setting something like this up, let me know.

Wow....let me first say that Im sorry I couldnt get updates during the event today. My computer has the device where you can get internet anywhere that a phone would work. My luck that the reception is MISERABLE in Mr. Cues and the internet never could load! Brutal...

anyways...the field is down to the final 8 players.

Winners side:
John Schmidt vs Gabe Owen @ 12pm
Mike Davis vs. Mitch Yarbrough @12pm

1-Loss Side:
Earl Strickland vs. Paul Song @12pm
Ronnie Wiseman vs. Ignacio Chavez @ 12pm

There has been a GREAT number of spectators sweating tons of matches all day. Some memorable moments included Corey Deuel missing a 10-ball he makes 99/100 times to win the set against Mitch Yarbrough. In his next match, Corey and Earl went hill hill to the delight of the packed house (With Earl knocking Corey out of the event) Stevie Moore and Ignacio Chavez battled to get to the final 8, with Ignacio winning and there being tons of woofing afterwards (as Im sure you all can imagine) Not sure if they got into any action but im sure somebody will update us all soon enough.

Speaking of action, Ronnie Wiseman is up to the usual antics and getting challenges from half the pool room. :) As I was packing up my things Ronnie was changed out of his good looking clothes and ready for some fun. :)

Some other good showings came from our trophy maker extraordinaire Javier Chrino, as he lost one match out of the money. Also, Juan Tavares is a local player (I think!) that plays incredible quick and strong. His two losses were 7-5 to John Schmidt and 7-5 to Ronnie Wiseman one match out of the money.

Tomorrow we start at 12pm, with the finals looking to kick off around 7pm or 8pm. Come check it ou if you are in town. Not sure if Ill have any better luck with the reception issues!! :(

Thanks for the support...Kevin

Oh wait, of course one last important issue!

1st place $2,000
2nd place $1,500
3rd place $1,100
4th place $800
5th/6th $500
7th/8th $250

with 33 players, we ended up paying a quarter of the field.

the seminole tribe is great.

you know in these rough times economicly for poolplayers and everybody else the seminole tribe is there for us.

they are doing great without us poolplayers and if they never put on another event it wouldnt hurt them one bit.

anyway thank you seminole tribe for what you do its very generous and believe me i appreciate it as i know the other players do also..

this is only my 5th florida tour event as its a long drive for me but at any rate whether im there or not what you do for us poolplayers is not overlooked trust me .

seminole tribe rocks

i got to watch some of the matches yesterday and i have to say the level of play was great. got to watch corey duel, stevie moore, ronnie wiseman, gabe owen, and of course the earl strickland show! earl is the man. he definately makes it entertaining, and i'm beggining to believe he may just be truly crazy. that man has a look he showed to us railbirds a few times that really made me wonder. anyway, thanks to seminloe tribe and all of the people who broght that tour here to atlanta. it really is nice for a lowly c player like me to be able watch those guys in action.
sincerly,
jason
p.s. john schmidt is an animal. that man can play.

We got a connection! (for now) :)

We're down to 4 players...

Mike Davis is battling John Schmidt for the hotseat.

Gabe Owen and Mitch Yarbrough are fighting in the 4th place match.

Gabe knocked out Earl 8-3, while Mitch took care of Chavez 8-6. Before that, Chavez took down Wiseman 8-5, while Strickland beat Paul Song 8-5. As much as Earl is "entertaining", it is unfortunate how he handles himself at events. Although he puts on a "show" for the fans, we were very close to having to penalize him for unsportsmanlike condcut and hope that it would do the trick. I would never want to remove him from an event on the final day, but to honest I was pretty close.

Be back soon with some more updates!

forgot about the two matches on the winners side to start the day. Schmidt beat Owen 8-6 after Gabe had him 6-3 and Davis beat Yarbrough 8-4.

thanks

I just wanted to say i was unable to make it to this event do to im sick and i really appreciate the updates ive got to close friends still in thanks

5-5 Schmidt/Davis

Gabe won 8-1

Congrats to our 4th place finisher and the winner of $800, Mitch Yarbrough

Gabe awaits the loser of Scmidt/Davis for 3rd Place.
