Send Mike Wong to the U.S. Open

Thorsten played great. He probably missed only one ball. I made some mistakes early on that were crucial, and never got started. I play again on Wednesday.

Mike, get plenty of rest and practice between now and then. Plan on playing up to your potential on Wednesday.

Focus on the process of playing well. Do not concern yourself with winning or losing. It is all about the process of playing well. The results will be a reflection of your ability to execute. The past is just a memory and the future is only a mirage; the only thing real is NOW.

Have fun by enjoying the process of executing each shot to the best of your ability on each day, match, game and shot.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm hanging in there. I got some practice at Q-masters. I beat Jeffery Ignacio 9-8 for dinner. I'm still trying to get paid!

Hi AZB,

Sorry for the late update. I was a bit disappointed and did not feel like getting in front of a computer.

Day 4, I lost my morning match to Jundel Mazon 11-7. He is a top player from the Philippines. I had opportunities to win, but of course I needed to play great to beat a player of that caliber. Early on during a critical rack, I made a very tough 8-ball and scratched 3 rails around the table. I also scratched on a 4-ball that cost me the lead early on. I had opportunities, but I needed to capitalize on them every time in order to win, and that is what you need to do playing top players. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so this match.

I want to thank all the people who supported me and gave me the opportunity to compete in this prestigious event. Big thank you to Mark Griffin, Chicago RJ, Q, my from Philippines, AZB members, and FB friends. My next event will be the Steinway Classic Nov 1-3. Hopefully, I will get some momentum there. Thank you all for taking part in my journey.

Thanks for sharing with us, mike.

Just another reason AZB is the place to be.

And that dinner...shit! You gotta finish in the top 12 to pay that bill solo!

Hi Danny Harriman, thanks for you input. I hope I get to watch your dvd soon. ;)

Hi Vinny, if you are reading this. I got a phone call and someone is really interested in staking me to play you, with a neutral racker or possibly letting you rack for both of us. Do you want to come to NYC?

Hi actionplayer, the rules of the tournament are that you are allowed to rack the 1-ball, a ball above or below the spot. I racked a little below the spot. The referee was unsure about the rule, and needed to call Tony Robles to confirm the rule. Thank you for your input.

Hi all bashers, I understand that this is the internet, and everyone is free to speak as they like. I understand that I am not a fast player and there are some that don't like my style of play, and that's okay. However, I find it disrespectful that people post on this thread with the sole intention of just bashing me. Please do it somewhere else, create your own thread to bash me, just don't do it here. Saying something negative about me to hurt my chances of getting support, I feel shows little class. It is not something I would do someone else, even if I disliked them.

To sponsors and stakers, thank you for showing your support. The following AZB members have decided to sponsor me so far:

Cardigan Kid $50
Lonestar_Jim $20
Anonymous friend from Philippines $200

Takes a lot of balls for a pro/semi-pro to venture into AZB these days. You're doing good fading the heat.

Good try, Mike.......you didn't roll over....and did about as good as the Kos

Get'em next year Mike.

Maybe we can do this again NEXT YEAR as well. Great person to sponsor for any event. Appreciate your time and effort promoting Magic Chalk. Also, glad to hear you will also be using Magic Chalk from now on :)

Thanks, RJ

Thanks for the updates along your journey. I'm sorry you didn't go farther in the event but you did your best and you handled the situation with class. Good luck at your next event!
