Seriously a pool cue is a deadly weapon

If you've ever seen the result of someone swinging a pool cue (or similar) with malice, you wouldn't be asking the question "did they really need to shoot him?".

I have, and I agree.

A pool cue is certainly capable of serious injury or death.

I'm curious about how he kept coming despite the tazer.

Can you get hit by a tazer and still swing for the fences? When they say "he kept coming" do they mean he was an actual threat? They say he came running out of the house swinging the cue. Was he like 10 feet away or right in front of them? Was he composed enough to rush forward and crack someone in the skull, or he was just kind of stumbling forward and in a daze?

Probably a more likely explanation is the tazer pins didn't penetrate his clothing.

They were testing tazers on people for the show Future Weapons and brought out a Navy Seal dude that looked like the hulk and he hit the deck as soon as he was tazed. It locks up your nervous system and you can't do anything.

Geesh man don't get all sensitive. I am not saying the cop should allow himself to get hit. It just seems funny that they couldn't ask him to drop the cue and then taze him if he didn't comply.

The other incident isn't related to this but illistrates how the people in this community might feel towards law enforcement.

Not sensitive at all. But how many seconds do you believe elapsed when the guy made his move on the other cop? Boom, its happening and you have a few seconds to protect your partner...Do you know they even had tazers? And how accurate do you really think tazers are?

I'm not missing with a Glock from 15 feet, I'll tell ya what :)

Not gonna tall the misses about her husband being paralyzed from some drunken idiot cause I didn't react fast enough. There are lots of BAD cop shootings, but lets not compare them to the GOOD ones like this one....

RIP pool cue wielding burglar.... we will miss you

A pool cue is definently a deadly weapon. So is a tire iron, a golf club, and a pissed-off wife. The use of any of those should be met with deadly force, especially the pissed off wife.

When I first read the story it gave me the impression that 4 cops couldn't take a pool cue weilding dude into custody. New facts have been updated on the story. The fact they tried to tazer him is enough for me to agree that he needed to be put down.

So basically the cop played a safety making sure the perp couldn't run out.

The perp didn't like the thought of being locked up tight so instead of returning a safety he swung wildly at the ball committing his third foul so the cop shot the 9 knocking the perp out of the tournament.

good riddance. props to these officers, may they live long lives protecting their communities.

No worries sharkster...... There are lots of bad cop shootings and I'm pretty hard on them when it happens since I was in the line of business awhile back....I've always said the bad ones make them all look bad and never understood why anyone would want to protect them.........

Cops in Seattle don't play around. I can't count how many times we've been front paged this year for excessive force, not protecting the community or downright stupidity.

Officer tells a citizen it's a crime to take video, in the city where I work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJQmaV_Z_vg
Federal government does an investigation on excessive brutality with the SPD: http://mynorthwest.com/11/594982/DOJ-report-critical-of-Seattle-Police-Department?page=0

On another note, this officer was in the middle of nowhere. If a guy that looked like a character from the Hills Have Eyes started chasing me in the dark with an object and I didn't know what else he had, i'm sure I'd be protecting my life too.

So are there any important details released yet?
Is this a full splice cue?
Layered tip?
Did the perp have a good stroke?
Shortstop or B player?
Was there any woofing involved?

Why does the media always miss the important issues.
