Shaft length

No advantage. Try one...see if you like it. I have both. I favor a 29.
 
I had a ferruless shaft with a sneaky once. It played very well and pocketed balls just as well as a 29".

As far as any distinct advantage, I didn't see or feel anything that would jump out at you.

As far as being a 6 footer or taller with a longer reach, I could see a 30" maybe being a tad more comfy for the player. But then, I would probably go with a 30" butt also.
 
Started playing with 60" Cues (30-30) about 10 yrs. ago and never went back.
I would try a 62" if I ever have any more built. I'm 5' 10.5" and 60" is Perfect.
 
If you're taller than average and want to stay down in snooker stance, then a longer cue would help you keep that form. Years ago, most people played upright, and cues were shorter at 57 inches.
 
pivot point for BHE will be exactly the same..... Longer shaft will alter the balance slightly.... Comes down to how you move the cue and how you feel the changes in weight and balance.... 30... 29.... 32... 28... it's the shaft it;s 4 oz of a 19-20oz equation... Only the first 6 inches matter... the rest is feel and preference.....
 
I am 6'1" and I had the opportunity to play with a 31" shaft. I played real well with it and it felt real good. So, I tried the Balance Rite extender (4 inch extension) and I liked the extra lenght but I came to dislike the extra weight (2 ounces) as it changed my hit. So, I have now have on order a 31" shaft. All that said, it is hard to say what you should use. You need to try other shaft lengths and see what you think.

I recently tried a 30" shaft and it just didn't feel quite right for me. I'm only 5'11" or so but I have long arms and always felt like I should try a longer cue. I'm going to try the 30" a few more times, but right now I'm leaning towards sticking with 29".

Only way to know for sure is to get one and try it out.
 
The advantage to a 30" shaft? The shaft is one inch longer; That's the advantage.

I'm 6'-4" tall and play with a 29" butt/30" shaft cue. If you really want to count the bumper, I suppose I have a 60" cue.
 
I'm a predator shaft user since the late 90's. I'm 6'-3" tall. I've had many many predator shafts over the years, all of their flavors, and in both 29" and 30". Both lengths "to me" play exactly the same. No difference at all in feel, or execution, or balance, or anything else.

The main thing for me is my back hand does not fall off the butt when using a 30" shaft, as it occasionally did with a 29" shaft.

I read some time ago that Efren (at that time) preferred playing with his 60 inch cue because being a somewhat shorter player it enabled him to readily reach virtually all shots without stopping to use a bridge. Don't know whether that still the case. (And I do know he plays equally well with either hand) In the two attached photos his shaft does appear (to me) substantially longer than a typical 29" one (without knowing his exact standing height, of course).
