Price Changes guys! And a NEW NAME!!! D Cue Supply Our website will be DCueSupply.com It will be up and rolling this week, with shaft wood, brown and black phenolic, and west system products to start off with.

Its here, northern UP of Michigan Sugar Maple, hard, straight and ready for action. Right now all I have is squares, going to start doweling this week, then I will have tapered cones starting in about 6 weeks, and finished shafts in 14-16 weeks.

In the last year or so I have bought a ton of shaft wood, high dollar, to cheap, so I could educate myself as to what a high quality shaft is and what the cue makers expect to receive when buying quality wood according to what is available. I have done this knowing that I would be selling shaft blanks from the Northern UP very soon. Well, its that time, it arrived today and I have to tell ya, its NICE, NICE, VERY NICE!! Get yourself some, I'll bet you'll be happy!

Prices are as follows:

1) AAA+ Perfect, straight, over 20 RPI, no sugar gorgeous shaft material We are not selling anymore of these right now, after we have graded the whole pallet then I will have more!

2) AA+: Straight, white, no grain run off 14-19 RPI almost perfect to perfect material for high end cues: 10) $140.00 $16) $208.00

3) A+: Straight, white, tiny sugar marks may be there, no grain run off, 11-15 RPI 10) $110.00 16) $160.00

4) Custom some straight grained some with run off 8-18 RPI If they are lower ring count they will be pretty straight, good for a sneaky or lower end cue, if they are higher count, they will be straight for 2/3 or more of the shaft, which would make a really nice, strong coring dowel. 10) $50.00 16) @ $4.50ea $72.00 100) $4.00ea

Check this out

I found a JEWEL in the pile! haha.. This is the most densely packed RPI I have ever seen on a piece of shaft wood. I just pulled it out of the pile and doweled it. It has 29 RPI! haha, that's ridiculous and it's dead nuts straight with not one spec of sugar or any imperfections at all for that matter.

Who wants it ? lol... What will you give me for it ?

Would you be kind enough to explain how the shafts were processed? Things like how the logs were milled & how shaft squares are the result? Just a vague step by step from log to shaft, nothing super detailed. Thanks.

I just won a very nice piece of Camphor Burl with super cheap shipping from the US.
My heart was pounding a bit. You know you have it bad when shaft wood and other exotic woods gets your heart rate up more than anything else can.

This type of wood should be called Viagra Wood.
Maybe Terry should get his priorities straightened around here.

Also, since I am worst case scenario for shipping, how much per 10 to 93003? This would help everyone out I believe, since everyone short of Alaska and Hawaii is closer than I am....

I am in no way an expert on the harvesting, cutting, seasoning, or the drying of sugar maple. But, it just so happens that my family members are. So this is how the wood is processed in the best way I know how to explain it.

The wood is cut with a modified rift/ quarter sawing process. The logs are cut differently than a log would be in quarter sawing. Quarter sawing is just that, they quarter the log. In this process, 4 sides are cut off of the log from the outside, to the heartwood. Then the 2 sides that are the full tree section are cut in half similar to a quarter sawn log. That leaves 4 pieces, plus the 2 other sides of log that are left after sectioning off the first 2 sides across from each other. Then they turn and rotate the sections of wood to get the most even and straight grain structure.

The wood is dried in a non conventional hybrid dehumidifying vacuum kiln for an undetermined amount of time. It is dried to a point and then there is another process it goes through before it is dried the rest of the way to 8%. Apparently the temp inside the kiln varies a lot throughout the process depending on what the wood is doing. It's a drying process that my uncle developed to overcome any warping of the wood, and from what I hear it all but eliminates any warpage.

That's the best way I can explain how its done. There are several things they do that are very similar to conventional quarter sawing, but some processes that are quite different. They do it this way to maximize the amount of usable wood.

I have done an extensive amount of educating myself on shaft wood, and this wood seems to be as nice or nicer than any I have found.

Like I said, I am not an expert on the drying of wood. I am a designer/machinist that has always wanted to be in the Cue Industry. And as a business owner with family members in the wood mill business in the UP I inquired about producing these shaft blanks and here we are. I guarantee if you process this wood like you would any other shaft material you will be happy with the results. Fair ?

Randy, shipping to you on 10 shafts will be $15.00 for USPS Priority mail. Unless you would prefer it shipped another way. I prefer the post office myself. They seem to not throw the boxes as far as say UPS of FedEx does. lol.. As least the boxes show up in better condition.. haha.

I hand select and buy kiln dried shaft wood planks from UP. I bandsaw cut and put them through my doweling machine. I love the maple from UP.

The prices you are charging for this stuff is very fair for all that is involved.
I think once you establish yourself as a dependable vendor making shipping deadlines with good customer service, you will get a lot of business.

He has outstanding wood, just as advertised, and I just ordered more.
This is the best wood I have received in recent memory.
I got the wood very quickly.
He's also a great communicator, which is always a good sign.

Only ordered 4 of the AAA+ for 2 cues I am having built....Super nice, super tight grain...Just as advertised.

Geoff was quick to respond during communication, offered me some pointers...overall a very friendly, helpful guy to deal with. I will be making a lot of purchases with Geoff in the future, cant wait til his website is up.
