Without divulging a name.....I contacted a certain Canadian supplier who sells 110 per box. That should be enough to identify them. Anyway, if you use this company I was hoping I could get some input. I'm not looking for some great deal and I'm pretty reasonable unless you start calling me names.

I've already tried 4 other sources and the last one was a disaster.

Randy,
I thought about those guys but after I talked to a couple of cuemakers the ratio of good shaftwood with decent RPI is low, I would say almost 50/50.
Like Joey said, grain is straight, no doubt and shafts are nice and white.
They do guarantee the straightness of the grain.

Thanks Craig. I've looked at them before, but there best grade isn't available in a square. I'm not really cheap per se, but if I'm going to buy 550 then paying extra for a dowel starts adding up.

If I could get 50 percent out of that and use most of the rest for cores, that might work out ok. That equates to about 13.00 a shaft for good stuff.

That is because until you turn the square you do not know for certain what the finished product will look like, so in my opinion you can't say for certain what any square of maple will turn out like.

Glad I don't gotta worry about this crap. Shafts are getting expensive in a hurry. I have lots of time & sweat in mine, but no worries of yield. That said, my last batch was 0% yield because I let it gray stain before getting it stickered & into a kiln. It's all good. Got a giant old growth down in a winter storm, should give me a few goodies

I'd quit if I had to rely on the big named suppliers.
Most of them btw supply " Japanese market " shafts.
