Shame on you guys

No one is bashing anyone. Look at what TAR provides. 6 free days. One payment of $15 is not to much to ask from most people....

It's way too freaking much to pay if I'm not going to be able to watch it!! We had storm damage from the ice storm. Due to my surgery, I'm just now physically able to clear trees and stuff that needed doing, when the weather is nice, like it has been. And I REFUSE to buy anything that someone thinks they have to shove in my face. Shoving stuff in people's faces has a tendency to lose a lot more than it gains.... especially when you're dealing with grown-ups who passed the age of responding to guilt trips, long ago!

I have supported TAR by making sure other pool players who seldom get online know it exists. Most of the players we know are too busy PLAYING pool or taking care of a family to sit around at their computers. Most of them have little time to sit at a computer (or a tv), so they don't even know stuff like this forum or TAR exists.

I have been quite glad TAR exists, so that when I have time, I can watch stuff. It's been a long time since I had time, though. I haven't even had much time to be on the forum. I have a life and so do a lot of other folks. I've been hoping to watch some stuff in the near future, but I'm starting to wonder...If TAR is such a great thing, how come someone always has to shove it in people's faces and tell them all how they need to support it? Do I want to pay for it, if it is so bad that someone has to push and shove to sell it?

To TAR: My overall experience with the videos has been good enough to make me want to pay for some of the services, WHEN I have time. From what I've seen, the prices are extremely reasonable, too. But, if all the guilt trip comments keep up, I have a feeling you will lose a lot of customers -- and you probably already have. Nobody likes to be told how terrible they are for taking care of their family and doing things that have to be done, instead of paying for a service they don't have time to use. This thread wasn't specifically aimed at any one or two folks. Being interested in TAR, I read the stupid thing and felt attacked. You guys need to get the attackers to back off, if you want to survive. I know I'm not the only person out here who feels like this. I'd really like for you guys to still be there, when I have time to sit in my uncomfortable, little folding chair, in this small space and watch some games I want to see, for once.

Its not about guilt....

You need to sit back and re-read some of your posts as if you are reading someone else's. See if they don't rile you up, as if someone gave you a good shove, when you walked out the barroom door! Whatchya gonna do when someone shoves you, like that? Most folks shove back... or more!

Tap, tap, tap...

You're right. Guilt trips aren't the way to go. If anything, I'd be less inclined to sign up after being pressured with one.

I'm sorry... Did I miss the post where Justin or Chad came on here and guilt tripped anyone? I must have missed it completely.

Seriously, WTF? I'm thinking you might have walked out of one too many barroom doors. Put down the bottle.

It was yobagua. If you noticed, that was who I was quoting and responding to. It was all the "You should all feel guilty for not supporting TAR, even if you don't have the money or time or equipment to view the feeds" kind of talk that got a little pushy. No, he DID NOT say that, but that's what I got out of it. And, from some of the responses I read, a few others got the same message.

My comment was only a response to the one I quoted.

I don't drink and I don't go to bars. (If you'll notice, I'm an avid supporter of the FAMILY pool hall with no drinking/smoking/etc..) But, I know people who do (this forum IS about pool, right?) and I know that if one of them gets shoved around for something someone else wants or falsely accuses them of, they generally push back. That's all I was saying. You don't necessarily have to drink or go to bars to be like that. I was just using that as an example.

I originally had a very long, drawn out message to explain my thoughts and although it was quite clear, it was sleep-inducing. Therefore, I thinned it down and later got your feedback over it. Sorry about that. I tried.

If you read the rest of my message, I want TAR to be around when I DO have the time, money, and equipment available to watch a great event. That's what aggravated me about the guilt trip. The way I usually respond to a guilt trip is to turn my back on the item the guilt trip is about, which in this case would be TAR. I don't want to do that, but I'm sure others might -- because guilt trips get old and aggravating, which is why I was suggesting they find a way to get the "attackers" who use guilt trips on people to please back off. I was HOPING my message and any subsequent agreeing comments from others might drive the point home to those who want to offer the attitude about how we should all feel bad because we don't all just throw our money around for whatever reason he feels is more important than our car payments, house payments, child support, medical bills, etc..

Maybe yobagua needs to invest all his money in TAR and let the rest of us who can't afford to do that have the comfort of knowing that we will have the service we enjoy and hope will be available when we have time to enjoy it. Some of us really want this service, but not at the cost of having to listen to a guilt trip, all the time. My NORMAL reaction would be to hope the offending service would die off and then the guilt trip freak would go away, too. However, I want the service to remain available and that's why I'm standing up for it!!

I'm getting a bit aggravated and going to go take the day off the forum. I just came back to catch up and see what I've been missing. Obviously, not much. I've heard the forum was getting pretty bad. Maybe I'm just finally responding to the crap that has happened here for so long. "Shame on you guys" is a guilt trip phrase. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Look at the title of this thread. THAT is what I was responding to. That and the post that came with it.

Y'all have a great day. I have great weather and another 2 or 3 weeks of spare time that I have to use cutting trees and stuff down. And IF I have time and an event is happening that I really want to see during all my work, I will gladly pay for the ability to watch it... as long as the service hasn't been shut down by lack of funding, due to the spoutings of the guilt trippers!

I bet you've been chomping at the bit for a chance to use that one! :)

Y'all have a great day. I've got work to do.

well ladies and gentleman i suppose ill give ya my 2 cents. first of all i cant stand to watch a full pool match unless im in it so i hardly ever watch pool. which brings me to the point im not gonna spend money on something i dont care to watch. ill get my point across this way. you have 2 identical 2 million dollat sports cars one is perfect and u can buy it for 2 million bux the other one is perfect except for a few scratches in the paint but you can have this one for free so tell me which one you gonna choose??? granted this is a far cry from 15 bux but is it really. if u ask 100 ppl walking down the street if they would spend 15 bux on something they could get for free most would just get it for free. think about this if ppl actually wanted to pay for things there would be no such thing as laws against downloading music or copying movies. if ya want a simple fix charge 15 bux to watch it or u cant watch it end of problem.
