Shane .V.B vs Nick. (The Greek) Ekonomopoulos

You my friend corvette have action w/ me for what ever you want, obviously you wear the SVB blinders too, wake up there are players in the rest of the world who are just as good or better than Shane what has Shane, achieved outside the friendly confines of the USA

Everyone says this but then you look at the money list and hes still #1 in the world you maybe just maybe hes happy staying in the USA and robbing everything blind. Then you realize even if he never went over seas he would still be #1 on the money board every year. So whats the point in going over seas to be come accustomed to living there and get comfortable enough to play?

also

I don't see Nick coming to the US to play Shane if he wanted to come over here and play on a Pro cut Diamond and play a race to 50 or more it wouldn't surprise me if they COULD walk away with 250k or better if they covered all bets. If everyone over there thinks hes the better player and we are just wearing "Shane blinders" then why not pony up the cash and come get the money over here. From the money board doesn't look like Nick is doing anything in Greece at the moment anyway with only 1 tourney on his list.

Trey there are far more tournaments worldwide than those tracked by AZBilliards.

AZB is doing a great job and improving every year its coverage, but I understand this a very difficult task if input is not provided regularly from overseas.

Nikos has more than 10x tournament winnings in 2014 than what is shown here (I guess for a lot of others is the same) and the same goes for previous years too more or less

Like I said before, i agree Shane would be a favorite in a neutral venue but only a slight one.
The gap skill-wise and moneylist-wise is way smaller than u think

I understand what you mean there...But, If he came up during the DCC where just about every Champion in the world comes to he could win more gambling than he could win in 5 years playing in tourneys if he can beat Shane IMO

Shane is my favorite...and the Greeks all love him, too, by the way. But Nikos is a beast and very under rated here in the States...don't underestimate the power of playing in his home room in front of his crowd. Beating Shane there in a close race wouldn't be the upset of the century by any means...7 on the wire would be too big a spot IMHO. Not sure Nikos needs a spot in this one; although I'm not sure how he'll hold up in a long race...

"Exhibition" is this being shelved as a go to excuse if the match doesn't go the way some expect?

Shane himself would never use it as an excuse, but I'm sure some fans will be glad to trot it out!
It's always good to have a plan B.

Is this a CSI-promoted event?

oops. I totally spaced out on that. Somehow got it mixed up with the ko pin yi match.
Not sure who the sponsor is, greekpool.com? Nick's betting his own? Unknown backer?

I'm sure AZ can miss a few, but 10x is a huge exaggeration.
$200,000 to $350,000 USD? I don't think so. Can you link to a site that provides
info about tournaments that AZ missed?

Some people continually spout nonsense like "Shane can't win overseas", "Shane will only play on his home court", "Who has Shane beat overseas?". Do they know that Shane spent several months overseas in the Philipines playing all of their champions on all of their home tables, for big $$$? And did quite well from what I heard. If that's not stepping out I don't know what is. And if you have seen those Filipino money-pit matches I can't imagine a bigger home-court handicap.

to those saying shane can't play on foreign soil why don't they ask about his gambling record in the philippines, any1 that is gonna gamble w shane better just hope his break is a lil off that day

I said 10x for 2014 which I know for fact, I haven't checked other years but i am pretty confident that more than 80% of his winnings are missing.

No site unfortunately, tournaments like this one though could have been tracked since
sixpockets.de is a quite reliable site

Let's just be serious for a moment. Putting any human in shane's category right now playing 10 ball is a joke..PERIOD!!!! Especially in a race higher then 30. I don't care if they played on Niko's floor at his house. Once shane drills him this race to 50 it will be the same excuses that it is everytime Shane beats somebody who supposedly had a fighting chance. Do you think this guy plays Mika or Orcollo's speed? It's cool to root for your home country's player but putting him SVB category is laughable.

I'm sure I'll get roasted for this from the Nick the greek fans that have there blinders on but the truth is the truth. When this guy wins 3 US Open championships or 2 DCC 9 ball events or US Open 10 ball..or anything compared to shane then tell me he's in shane's league.

You do realize???

You DO realize that the site you just posted to has Shane being more than 100 points ahead of the number two and three players right now with like 45% more points right???

what am i missing?

And Nick is 67th on the list with only 37 points lol

According to AZB...over the past 5 years (+ 2014), SVB has earned nearly 785K in winnings, and NE has earned 70K.

Even according to the Sixpockets.de site, NE is ranked 67th to SVB's first and has less than 10% of SVB's ranking points.

Why is this match even remotely compelling?

I get it that it's on Nick's home turf and it targets one of SVB's perceived weaknesses (playing abroad); and certainly these factors make the match more interesting. I've seen NE play before - I think during Mosconi cup a few years ago - and he's a great player. Top 100 in the world...definitely. Top 5, 10? I just can't get there.

Unless the guy's been purposely staying under the radar, sandbagging the tourneys, and robbing people gambling...what am I missing? how is this match even remotely compelling?

why shouldn't he be?

all I am saying is that the money list is inaccurate for players like Nikos

15k for 2014 is still way behind Shane's 75

btw I am one of those who DON'T think Shane can't perform abroad,
