Congrats to Shane! It's amazing to think what he has accomplished in 2007. Years from now we may all be able to look back at this year and realize we saw the rise of one of the best players to ever screw two pieces of wood together.

Over at OTBNTV.com they just posted this...

In the Finals were Shane Van Boening and Johnny Archer
This is a true Double Elimination
Shane would have to beat Johnny twice
Shane won the first set
The match is over and we have a winner
The video of the second set is started
being worked on at 7pm Pacific Time
and it will be up as soon as possible
Later this week we will have up
Shane Van Boening and Johnny Archer's first set
in its entirety plus Shane winning the match
before the finals with Edwin Montal

So does that mean the video will be up tonight? Kind of difficult to comprehend what they are saying.

Congrats to Johnny Archer as well for a spectacular tournament. Johnny won 4 consecutive matches without losing a single game, which is a new world record in pool!

It's also nice to see two Americans in the finals. In fact out of the final twelve players, Jose Parica was the only player not from North American. Even though he has been living here for a long time. I just looked at the player list and was very surprised to see that there were not hardly any foreign players what-so-ever in the field. You would think with a $15,000 first price it would draw more.

Congrats to shane

After spending thanksgiving weekend in Rapid City and getting to meet Shane and playing several hours against him. I had no doubt about him placing high in Reno.

Nice! Were you TDY to Ellsworth? That's very cool you got the opportunity to play against Shane.

You can also go to otbntv.com/RenoOpen2007.htm which is where the finals video should be posted once it is done.

LOL! Agree 100%. Who else could it be? I thought it was certain after he won the U.S. Open.

Sorry Jay, but you're about the 37th person I've heard that from! :D

At least you haven't gone the way of the dodo bird yet!

I've know Shane a long time, a very long time. I remember him playing back when he wore a ballcap and couldn't drive haha. He'd come to my tournaments in Spearfish just to play. I seen it in him then as sure as the day is long that'd he'd rise to the level he has. I'm very happy for him. He has worked hard to get to where he is at. Congratz to you Shane on Winning the Reno Open and Congratz to Johnny for his new record.

Prime Rib is waiting...

What about Daryl Peach?

The title is "Player of the Year"... not "Player of the Week" :D Whatelse did Daryl Peach accomplish in 2007? 65th in the US Open & 9th in the World Cup of Pool which is team based. One tournament should never determine who the player of the year is.
