Shanella Loraine More Photo!!!

She's not much of a 9-ball player, but she loves one-hole.

(Firecracker, please, shut up. Shanelle is hot, o.k.? She needs your respect, and if she's hotter and more popular than you are with the boys, you need to just deal dude, and give her props. You can be a real hater Firecracker. Go stick some trees in the ground and save some kittens, but leave Shanelle alone! We (male pool players) like her, a bunch, so as far as Shanelle goes, you need to just move on and live your life and leave her to us. You're fired Firecracker!...and if you're reading this Sweet Marissa, "you're fired too hater!".)
I don't believe I ever said she wasn't hot and respect has to be earned. Obviously, we have never met, or you would know that I have the about same T&A that she does. I'm sure if I flaunted them and wore heavy makeup, I could get sponsorship as well. However, I chose to earn respect by my abilities, not flaunting my a**. As for sponsorship, I have no drive to turn pro anymore, I just want to play.

In an ideal world, the women pool players would be earn sponsorship like the men. There would be some attention to looks, but the primary reason for sponsorship would be based on ability.

If men followed the same guidelines for sponsorship as the women endure, Efren Reyes would have a hard time finding sponsorship.

I'm not going to reiterate all the positive (and true) statements on her abilities - pool playing and marketing - but she has fought some odds to be one of the best women players in the world and one of the most recognised females in sports, period.

Put karen corr in her clothes and some makeup and hairdo and she would have sponsors coming out of the woodwork

also remove those glasses that makes her look like my highschool math teacher. and please, let her wear some real women's clothes. Anne Hathaway's geek look and funny outfit is more pleasing to look at. please do her justice.

well hey karen would make a sexy math teacher in the right outfit and leave the glasses some of us im sure had hot for teacher fantasies lol

Haha, yeah that is true,I think with a makeover you might be suprised by Karen, some contacts, hair extensions and a wardrobe and tongues and other things would be wagging. :grin-square:
Truth be told, Karen's breasts were the first thing I noticed the first time I saw her! She does have a great rack!

Reread my post that you quoted. I encourage people to support the female players that can actually play. Jeanette and Jennifer can play. Why do people talk about Shanelle? She's pretty and has big breasts? Good for her. Use them to land a modelling gig. This is pool and billiards, and I don't understand why I have to reiterate that. It is beyond me. If you want to see T&A, there are plenty of sites on the internet for that very purpose.

And no. If I saw pictures of a dude on here that couldn't play, I'd say they don't belong here because this is a pool and billiards forum.

Not everyone is so shallow that they flock to what conventional society tells them is beautiful or attractive. I would much prefer intellect and personality over vapidity and beauty any day.
You say vapidity? Have you met her? Is she an airhead, a space cadet? That's quite an assumption. So we agree she is not the best pool player out there, but this is a P&B forum, you're right, but she DOES PLAY pool, does she not?

Everyone wants the sport to be more popular, accessible etc. but only from accomplished pool players...that's a bit much to ask in the real world, even if it is the high road. How many athletes you know are sex symbols? The list is long. You'd probably say "well at least they excel at their sport and Lorraine does not". You have a point, but you cannot stop people, reporters, from wanting to see more of something beautiful.

C'est la vie!

basing from Marissa's statement, this is my understanding of her logic. if Marissa was given/offered a sponsorship deal and paid for promoting or advertising pool cues and stuffs, that wouldn't be right. and she shouldn't accept the offer because Karen Corr deserves it better than her. Did I hit a nail on this one?

and please rep me on this, because it is a good one! ---Travis Trotter

Before the train was thrown off the track, the original point of this conversation was that any female player should not be given preferential treatment for inclustion to a pro match because of her looks over her game.

The game is the cake, beauty is the frosting. If you want cake, eat cake. If you asked for cake and the promoter handed you a bowl of frosting, some would be pissed. A lil kid would be happy and would proceed to wolf down the frosting until he threw up. Some kids would jump up n down yelling OMG FREAKING FROSTING - OH YEAH - YEAHHHHHH!

The game selection should be based on skill.

If pool payed out enough money, the promoter who coaches the babe off the street into top 20 performance would be the one laughing himeself to sleep at night rolling in our money. That's fair. See: Pop music.

The takeaway point is a poor playing babe has no business in a premier selection tournament.

This seems to come up every time someone mentions Shanelle or shows a shot of her cleav. No one is sponsored to play pool. They are all sponsored to sell cues. Period. Players with sponsorships are billboards and in Shanelle's case, she's a 3D billboard. If a billboard gets a lot of eyeballs, it is doing its job. The only issue I have with the Shanelle/Poison deal is that I think she does a really poor job promoting the product, as she spends way to much time quietly smiling in the background instead of mixing it up with customers and fans.

Honestly Marissa, I don't understand why you get so upset by this, especially considering the fact that you're a stone cold fox. If you had a publicity machine behind you like Shanelle does with CW and an existing relationship with Predator like CW has, you'd totally score a sponsorship deal based on your looks.

As for the Karen Corr issue, keep in mind that she used to have a sponsor. She lost her deal because a sponsor needs to do more than wear a patch and it was clear that all she was willing to do was wear a patch.

I never said she was vapid. You said people flock to what's considered attractive, and I disagreed with you.

As for her "playing" pool, I would have to disagree with you there, as well.

Actually I did turn down someone wanting to sponsor me because I'm not at a level where I would best represent any sponsor. I've played three times this year. I would only embarrass them and myself by wearing their logo.

I would much rather watch an attractive female player bang balls in the side of rails all day long as oppose to watching an ugly female players split the pocket. This is just my opinion because I get to watch the best men split the pocket all the time and if I'm going to watch the ladies play then I'd rather watch the better looking ones.

If anything shouldn't we be mad at the companies sponsoring her and their marketing departmenmt or decision makers? Would ANYONE up and coming turn down sponsorship because they don't play top level pool yet? I think not.

Are people blaming the wrong party here?

Jeanette has acquired most of her sponsorship and recognition because of her looks, period. There have always been more deserving players than her based on ability, period. That means she is doing the EXACT same thing that you are harping on Shanelle for, which is taking sponsorship dollars away from more deserving players--period!

Like I said, I don't really have a dog in this fight. I'd love to see a perfect world where looks don't matter, but biology/mother nature/God didn't make us that way, and it isn't going to happen. But if you are going to take the position of being against one player (like Shanelle) who takes sponsorship dollars away from someone else who is more deserving, then you need to be against any other player (like Jeanette) that does the EXACT same thing, regardless of their playing level. Picking and choosing that it is ok for this player but not ok for that player makes you a hypocrite of the highest magnitude.

Playing level makes no difference when there are still even better players who are even more deserving of that sponsorship money. There are more deserving players than Shanelle, Jennifer and even your beloved Jeanette, so if you are against it for one then quit treating them different and singling out only Shanelle or any other players that you just don't happen to like. There is NO difference in what they are doing!

why didn't you donate or endorse it to a more deserving Karen Corr then? they could had called her since she is more deserving, right? who's fault is it this time? is it ok to say that it is your fault that the company is after you and not Karen (whether you accept the offer or not)?
