Shane's Playing Cue Wrap

I was recently watching the latest TAR podcast with SVB & someone asked for details of his cue & I was wondering what kind of wrap he had on it?

I know it definitely isn't linen & to me it doesn't look like leather & if it is what type of leather would it be?

Finally if it is neither of these materials then which type of material would it be?.
 
I saw his cue (the stained black one, with thick silver rings) and it's linen if I recall correctly. Cuetec use a double pressed black linen on pj cues most of tge time.

It's linen. Everything about his cue is straight off the shelf. Here it is at their website. http://www.cuetec.com/edge-r360-13-694 I don't know which model of break cue he uses though and what tip he has on it. I know he said he has a Kamui brown medium on his playing cue.
 
IT IS "LINEN" per Cuetec. They claim its genuine linen. I see nothing to disagree. I've held and played with here. Pick up any other R360 cue with a wrap and it's the same.

No need to feel dumb. It doesn't look like regular linen. I have genuine all black linen on my cue here, and it looks different than Shanes, side by side. It almost looks like his cord is thicker/thinner than mine in person.

I never understood peoples need to have to KNOW what gear the pros use. Who's gives s hite??

Took the words right out of my mouth. The "drug store cowboys" just don't get it. It's not the equipment (or the way you dress) that makes you a better shooter. It's experience and focus. But then I'm not looking at Shane's equipment when he shoots. I study his form, his decisions throughout a match, all of the details about his actual game play. If being the mirrored image of Shane (or your favorite pro) is all it takes to be a great shooter then why not go the "Full Monty" and have cosmetic surgery as well?
But give me a house cue (with a fair tip on it) and about 30 minutes to adjust and I'll shoot about the same as I do with my LD shaft. If I find a cue that feels right... then I buy it and make it mine. I don't ask myself... "Would Shane shoot with this cue?".
One of the greatest players to ever shoot a stick once told me, "A real shooter can take your money shooting with a broomstick or even a 2x4". I know that is an exaggerated metaphor... but the point being, it's usually about 80% skill, 13% attitude, 5% luck and maybe about 2% (or less) equipment that wins tournaments. What percentages are you focusing on?
 
Well it does give some validity to production cues. Why do people pay thousands for a cue? I personally don't know if a top player can play with any cue at a high level. I know I have played with many cues and some cues had limitations. Well at least on a normal stroke. One cue might draw 3ft while another might draw 6 ft with the same stroke. Be kinda interesting to see two equal players playing horse or something. One has a cue from a respected custom cue maker worth over $5000 and the other plays with a production cue worth under $500. Set up the same shots and see what happens.

People want to know they're using something that is known to work, especially if it's used by someone they admire. It's one more variable to remove when working on our own game. It's the same in all sports. Golf, Tennis, Darts, Ping Pong, you name it. After all that's the main reason pros are sponsored.
