Does any of the CM here have any experiences with shipping cue to Croatia? What would be the best/preffer shipping method used?

I have a "buyer" from Croatia for one of my cue and using Western Union as payment method......being my first time dealing with both, just like to get some of the experts opinions here on what need to watch out for and such......

Thanks and appreciate all your helps:thumbup:

USPS global express is pretty good.they usually can get the package anywhere for about $40 in 3-4 days.

as far as Western Union,i don't have much experience, but i think once you have the money in your hand it's safe to ship.

i agree wth mason about usps express mail
i've been paid with western union a couple times
i had to go to a krogers (grocery store) to cash it, all that's needed is an id
you'll have to do a search of where a western union station is located near you

I would look into Fedex. I get a little scared shipping to some countries. Hong Kong you can send something and it is never heard from again. You don't want to be a hard a$$ but sometimes it may not be worth it. In the past I have had people handle it through a family member or friend in the US. You ship it to them then they take care of the rest and it is no longer you responsibility. I would honestly ask them if there is a US address you can send the cue to where it can be sent on to them. I am sure others will say I am being paranoid but I can just speaking from some bad personal experiences.

Two other things you must have the correct info for sender - their address, etc. Also some location krogers (grocery store) might not have cash ready available [time of day], to cash Money Order. Then you're stuck going to the Bank.

i thought barney kroger had more money than the banks
good point though bob, my money grams received were for chump change, about $500 max

Shipping to Croatia is not that much of a problem. I usually use USPS Priority Mail. Be sure to pack carefully. I like to double box or use a 4 inch dia carpet tube. I would be a little concerned about western union, I prefer PayPal and you can print shipping lables and custom forms right from the paypal site. I know some have had problems with PayPal but it works for me!! (Buyer pays the PayPal fees).

Shipping is a gamble no matter where your sending it. I've lost more stuff in the states then I have shipping over seas or across to a bordering country.
In the states if you want to up your odds use USPS Express or one notch down Priority. FedEx or UPS is usually a safe bet with little better tracking then our government but also a little more expensive. Out of the country I've used USPS international Express and Priority International both with good luck.(knocking on wood as I type this)
Just remember to pay for insurance if the package is that important. Hard to collect sometimes but you will NEVER collect without it.
Shipping is a gamble..............

For Croatia and certainly just about all of Africa, I suggest DHL.

A bit more expensive, but they ship to places FedEx does not, and the USPS (as good as they are) ship to even fewer places than FedEx.

So, in that order:

USPS
FedEx
DHL

And, as has been said: ship nothing until you have the CASH in hand. Make sure the buyer knows that, due to possible scams that abound these days. If he is legit, he should have no trouble with one extra day wait to clear the funds...

PS if possible, get a phone number of the recepient. Often this is needed on the shipping / customs paperwork.

I was under the impression that the USPS shipped to everywhere that FedEx does as FedEx does most of the out of country deliveries for USPS.

... Hong Kong you can send something and it is never heard from again...

I've had many a dealings with people here and I always tell them to ship via USPS Express Mail International. It has a Guaranteed Delivery of 5-days to Hong Kong. So far, no major issues yet. I've had 1 package delayed for a week and another 30-days.

Maybe you were shipping to China? I remember an issue before wherein the address given was Hong Kong as country, but it actually was an address in China.

Anyone shipping something to HK or wants to verify a buyer, you can PM me or Kam (Kamdaswani) or Roy (troyroy78) and we will try to helpout. Get the name, address and phone number(this is a must) of the buyer. Also, HK doesn't have a ZIP or Postal Code, don't go looking for one... It doesn't exist. I had 1 shipper insisting on a Postal Code. duh...

One huge advantage of HK is being Tax/Duty Free.

I always use USPS Priority Air for international shipping and I require that the customer purchase insurance. Make sure the customer knows that they are responsible for any import fees or duties, as some countries will tax the item and require payment before the package can be delivered.

As for Western Union, I've heard that it's quite subject to fraud, so I wouldn't ship the package until it clears the bank or you have the money in hand.

Be sure to keep your shipping receipt and a copy of the Customs Declaration until your customer verifies delivery.

As Croatia is near my country, maybe I can help...
First of all, WU is used in scams but to scam the buyer and not the seller,( basically they ask someone to send money saying that they will send him the product and never do so), so you as a seller should not wary about WU, you should receive the money in a few minutes.
PS: I had used PayPal as is much easier and much cheaper and safe for me as a buyer.

Than for sending you could use USPS, I received my cue this way, also from US. (around 10 days from which 2 in my country)
About tax I don't know how it is in Croatia but the buyer should take care as it could add pretty much.

Hope it helps,
Cristian
