This, nothing can be possibly any worst.

Put it this way, if you dont like the plot and the acting and whatever, you can still at least look at a Southwest and a Gold Crown in Poolhall Junkie.

My wife had gotten hold of a promo copy of it last year. So we made some popcorn, settled in on the couch and watched it. We both
looked at each other when it was over, and we were like "What the Hell".
Then we watched it again, and the story line and the flashbacks all made more sense. It still "Stunk" but it made more sense. Now it is collecting dust with the other DVD's.:D

In no way am I impugning or criticizing alternate lifestyles; BUT that girl in the movie was SMOKIN' HOT. If you didn't like it you might be gay - it's worth considering anyway.

Oh wait...were you guys discussing pool in the movie?.....please ignore this post.

P.S. - Truthfully, I thought the plot was fairly interesting (lots of twists), the acting pretty good (EXCEPT for Ving - he must have been on drugs for this one, 'cause I usually like his acting), and the pool a little more realistic than most movies (but that's not saying much). Overall a C minus.

True...that girl is Smokin Hot. She is now on a FBI TV show called "Without a Trace" . It comes on Thursday nights after the original CSI.:)

I liked it a little bit

I would have liked it a WHOLE BUNCH MORE if they added a lot more T&A!!
Who needs a plot when you could have that? I mean pool, and T&A, and then more pool and then T&A... yeah... Doesn't get much better.. Maybe I can remake the movie.
SHOOTING GALLERY part DEUX!!

I'll help you out

This movie is way worse than PHJ's imho!! This movie sucked so bad I couldn't keep watching it.

PHJ's, on the other hand, was very entertaining not only for me but for the rest of my family and friends. The pool segments weren't the best in PHJ's but the performances by all the actors except maybe for Rod Steiger, was very good I thought.

The cues in the Shooting Gallery were such a turn off.

Did you see the cue case that "tenderloin Tony" was carrying?

At least they use real cues in PHJ, a Southwest and a ... cuetec!

You just can't go wrong with that combo.:)

The problem with Pool movies...

Is that all the Poolplayers want AN EVERYTHING MOVIE.

they want:

a) A good story or plot.
B) They want good hustling.
C) They want T&A.
D) They want known Stars in it.
E) They want matches like Accu-stats, only with impossible shots in it.
F) And they want the star of the show to come out good, money, girl, etc..
G) They also want cameos by REAL Poolplayers.

Sorry, you are just not going to get all those things in a Pool movie. You are just fantasizing what you wish your Pool world was like ... ROFL.

Think lawyers are happy about the way attorneys are portrayed on
'Law and Order' .... lol Half the things they do on that show would not be permitted in a court of law in real life.

Even if you did get all those things in a Pool movie, someone would just say, 'Sh*t, that isn't how it is in real life!'.

I agree... this movie was awful.. there was another thread where we discussed this not too long ago:

i didnt let the acting phase me in this movie, it had more realistic shooting than poolhall junkies i mean come on who wasnt a little dumbfounded when johnny shot the seven ball and "forgot" to follow for the eight leaving him the 2 rail safety that he needed to talk over with rod steiger first. or the jump shot that you can see pass the nine ball in the final sequence but somehow they end up frozen against the rail. for shooting i give shooting gallery the advantage, entertainment value goes to poolhall junkies storyline goes again to shooting gallery

i did watch it last night , i downloaded it since i was told it was not worth buying ..

Well i can say it's not the best pool movie , but it sure ain't as bad as "Kiss shot" with whoppie goldberg :P

But the only thing i like is when Freddy P play against Karl and he says "Your not gonna like this " and well you know he show his "real" speed by changing you know what... ohh and the movie is too DARK .... i mean it look like a black/white movie with couple of color scene !

I just made the mistake of renting this home video. My first clue was when I saw there were about a dozen producers breaking open their piggy banks to buy into this movie. I couldn't even watch a third of it. I might be getting old but I didn't even thick the chic was worth the $2.99 rental fee.

A longtime local shortstop and BCA instructor from New Orleans, John "Spike" Wildes (sp) was the technical advisor for SG. He also performed all the difficult shots. Spike is a helluva guy. He told me how difficult it was to get that jump shot just the way they wanted it. I've yet to see the film, but I have no illusions as to it's plot or acting. I just want to see the pool shots.
