My dust collector is inside my shop in my wood room but there is no dust.
I put it in a corner on an outside wall, ran the collector pipes through the wall, cut a hole in the outside wall which I filled with furnace filters, then I built a 4' X 6' box/room out of High R insulation board. This box completely covers the collector and the exhaust air is vented outside. Heat and cold can't get through the insulation so all you lose is the air you exhaust.

One side of the box opens for maintainence and bag change.

Well its been 4 months since I first started this post with a empty 10 x 20 garage, learned alot since then,

My shop is such a mess that I have people sign a form in case they are swallowed up and can't be found they're relatives cant suit.

However, I can see a lot of you having you're industrial dust collector inside
you're working room....
I'm allergic to dust and my experience is to get the dust collectors out
of the room you are working in. The collectors many of you have used do not
take care of the respirable dust and would for sure cause problems in the long
run by spreading all the respirable dust in the working room....

You raise a good point. I use drywall bags in my shopvac and also use a hepa filter. I seem to be alergic to quite a few types of wood and the dust.
With the above and a resperator I am ok for the breathing, but the oils from cocbola make me rash. The cure is not to use Cocobola.
Also having a hose pointing out the window for the outlet has also helped. Neil

"SO MANY THINGS TO DO AND SO LITTLE TIME"
Still working on this, but just adding pictures and doing this on my time off for the holiday...
PUTTING MY CUEMONSTER TOGETHER. STILL HAVE TO PUT THE PC AND CONTROL BOX TOGETHER. ALSO NEED A ENCLOSED BOX TO CONTROL DUST.

HERE THE HIGHTOWER LATHE BOUGHT FROM WALDO'S (JIMMY) FINALLY HAVE A CHANCE TO TAKE OUT OF THE SHIPPING BOX AND PUT IT ON THE 2 SEARS TABLES THAT ME MY FRIEND "PINKY" EUGENE KIM.

MAKE 4 OF THOSE CUES/SHAFTS HOLDER. PUT EACH ONE NEXT TO EACH LATHE.

STILL THINKING OF HOW BIG OF THE DUST COLLECTOR I NEED...

In regards to the dust collector, here is my advice, over do it, and don't be cheap, words can't express how clean this will keep your shop.

mine is hooked up to 4 lathes, and 2 other stations, can't have more than 2 going at any time for good suck.
