Just curious about the size of cue makers shop? What's inside your shop, equipment (obviously), wood, office, lounge, pool table, bar, etc.

Thanks,
Zim

Is that a shop or vacation spot?? Equipment radio wood chemicals materials.. Bar lounge and pool table are going in the addition when I hit the lottery.

My shop is 8'x18', cinder block with 8' ceilings, one window in the near end next to the door. I have three lathes, $100 9" bandsaw, $100 belt sander, a radio & the rest of the space is wood storage. I have a bigger bandsaw, miter-saw, planer, jointer, wood lathe, finishing/sanding lathe, etc. in my garage, plus more wood. I have wood stashed everywhere. That's it for me, pretty basic stuff. My "office" is a computer in my utility room. I do have a table in my house, though.

I have a few old photos from before I moved around all my equipment. I know it was/is a mess. I swear I clean it from time to time but you would never believe it if you saw it now. LOL. Chris.

I've got 1800 sq/ft. It's an old post office. The only part that is climate controlled is the front area of the shop so that is where the tools that are used the most are set up. In the front of the shop is a 13X36 Enco bench lathe, a 12X40 Jet bench lathe, A 10X24 Atlas bench lathe, a 9X18 Atlas bench lathe, a 7X10 Central Machinery mini-lathe, a 12X36 Wood lathe, another wood lathe not set up as of yet, a milling machine, a 34X34 Gantry CNC mill, another CNC gantry not set up as of yet, work benches, wood storage cabinets, 3 band saws, a TV, a radio, 3 computers, My desk, a refrigerator and micro-wave and of coarse, a coffee pot! In the back room is my spray booth with U.V. and conventional spraying capabilities, 2 saw shaft machines and another 4 shaft saw type CNC machine under construction, a good table saw, a 16X48 engine lathe, a 20 ton press, work benches air compressor, 2h/p dust collector and piping, a planer and other tooling not needed for cue making. Probably more but that's off the top of my head.
I'm a tool lover any many machines are set up for just one or two operations. You can never have to much space nor tooling. Every piece set up makes your production more efficient.

I have visited Dickie's shop. He has everything plus some. His wood stash isn't bad, either.

Damn!
No toaster or waffle machine or Foreman grill?
Must be nice living in Ohio where machines are abundant.
And space.

Chris's shop photos

That's a nice welder you have there in your pics....

I was just curious what stage of cuemaking you utilize that welder on ?????

You really have my undivided attention on that one !

LOL !!!

But seriously, nice equipment.....

Actually it is used on the cues but that is super duper secret!;) . I really use it for aluminum on jigs and machinery that I build. I got tired of drilling and tapping all the time so now I just tig weld everything that does not need to be removeble or adjustable. It is the miller 250 tig and it is a hell of a machine. It will stick everything together. I was going to get a watercooled torch for it but I no longer build race car chassis so I never get it hot enough to need it. Chris.

Here are some pics of my shop that I just started seting up. This is all inside of a one car garage. Beware, I have OCD......

This is a 12" Delta Variable Speed Wood Lathe. The counter to the right is going to be left empty. I hope to fill it with a cue lathe one day. And yes, that is a can of TAB on the top of it!

This is a Craftsman 101 6" Lathe made by Atlas. I have just about every original accessory for it (not everything is shown) except for the taper attachment. Contact me if you have one for sale. I just mounted it and have not hooked the belts up yet. I bought those new twist lock belts from grizzly. I plan to put all my metal stock in those small compartments right below the lathe. Also to the right is a 3" Wilton Vise.

Car is in the garage right now (its snowing out) so I cant get a clean shot of this section. Here are some mini tools Sherline Mill and Toyo Lathe with all the toys above them. I may sell these 2 at a later date. I dont really need them. Also there is a nice full size double kennedy box for my smalls.

Last is a pristine Delta Super 900 9" RAS with original table. Its on casters so i can wheel it around. As well as 2 storage shelves with 2 old metal hardware store bolt cabinets and that gray industrial storage box.

Hope you enjoyed the tour:)

I love the old machines, That Delta 900 is sweet, There's a couple on Craigs list right now, One in Colorado and one in Vegas.
I believe you can get a taper bar made for your Atlas from Chris Hightower if he is still doing them.

Interested in what you guys do for dust collection?

Does anyone use a commercial dust system or is a shop vac on wheels your main player? :) :)

I use a shop fox dust collector. The pics a little old I now have duct work ran on the ceiling to all the tools. And a floor sweep attachment hooked to it as well.
