Hi Deacon
I thought about Youngblood & Cannonball, but I have no first hand knowledge of their speed, only things I've read.
I was wondering why you don't list Shannon Daulton and Varner? Oversight or in the "everyone else" group? I personally think their credentials can stand up with the others. I can't wait to read what Freddie thinks about these guys we've all mentioned.
And yes, Glen Rogers certainly merits consideration. I left him out of the elite simply because he thus far has no major Bank titles on his resume.

I've told you guys and i've told you guys... Tony Fargo will play anyone in the world full rack banks for $10,000 or $ 20,000 a session. He is open to the world. This is always a serious offer and we can match it up. Hogue, miller, coleman, piggy banks, and even though i really like him; danny harriman could get action and anybody else you can think of.

I think Don Anderson played really strong banks. Not sure how he compared to the other top bankers but that was his strong game from what I heard.

Curly

Not to knock His actions..

I heard some freaky things about him... Mr. Fargo that is.. I wasnt going to mention his name but he was on top of my list.. And my favorite person to watch would be Tony Coleman.. A short rack bank match between him and Shannon Daulton would be knee slapping fun.. haha

this thread is about SHORT RACK BANKS!!!!!!! While all those mentioned can be the best, I saw Truman and Gary Spaeth play the best short rack's.

in the 60's deadly, and in his sixtys now still very sporty!

I'll give you 10 to 1 he will not play Spaeth.

As I recall Brian Gregg plays pretty sporty short rack banks. Maybe not one of the greats but ask Shannon Daulton how those 2 Derby City ring games got away.

Gary Spaeth passed on about 5 or 6 years ago from cancer. The best I have ever seen play are as follows.

1. Bugs Rucker (I backed two guys against him just to watch him play in the late 80's or early 90's. Wow is all I can say.. He came in with an entorouge was stiffing straight backs like I have never seen)

2. Gary Spaeth (Of all the great bankers I spent the most time around him he didn't bet like Bugs but I never seen him lose a bank pool match for the cash. He would run a 9ball rack in rotation banking unbelievable)

3. Truman Hogue (I thought I was stealing side betting Nick Varner vs Truman. I was getting stuck up)

4. Shannon Daulton (Firepower, and more firepower)

5. John Brumback/Tony Fargo (Underated bank pool champions)

Spaeth...I don't think is banking any more..

Huckster beat me to my point about Gary Spaeth being deceased.. Edited to avoid redundancy

Why you guys knocking my action ? :D

I get tired of the whole internet my guy is better than your guy and will play ANYBODY in the world for a GAZILLION $$$$$$. I'm getting old and cranky I guess.

I grew up in Cincinnati when Gary was playing. He was amazing playing banks. Sherm could tell many stories I'm sure. He knew him very well.

JCIN,

Yes, Gary was a phenom at bank pool as well as most games on the table of green. I also really like Donnie Andersons game, he could bump em off the rails pretty sporty too!!

I went to high school with Donnie's grandson. I went to Donnies home on a couple of occasions to look at or buy cues. He was a character. You are right about him playing good banks.
