Shorter break cues?

I recently got to hit with Sarah Rousey's new Mezz Power Break DI II. I had immediately noticed the cue was considerably shorter and at first thought it was custom made for her because she was sponsored and she is definitely petite (but breaks like a giant!). In reality, the cue comes from the manufacturer 4 inches shorter in the butt.

I really enjoyed hitting with the shorter cue for breaking because it put all the weight in front of my hand but still allowed my hand to be in a reasonable gripping position for a good stroke.

Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that have adopted this concept?

nope. mezz advertises that cue as being shorter. i'm surprised you didn't notice that in the description when you bought it

Who says he bought one? :p

I too enjoy this cue. I choke up when breaking, so the shorter length just feels more natural.

I have a friend who has this short little break cue, probably weighs like 13oz and is about 6 in shorter than a normal cue. Breaks ok, but i dont like it.

i'm surprised you didn't read my post and understand it. I test hit Sarah Rousey's cue, I don't own one.

I'm considering buying one but wanted to find out if there are other cues out there that are similar by other manufacturers or custom makers.

i missed that Sarah Rousey's part.i just thought you said you'd just received one

?????????

I have 2 breakcues that are standard length. I have broke with a Cannon an I believe the one I used was shorter. It preformed quite well.

Mike Deli in San Diego also cranks out short break cues. I tried one and I liked it. We made a deal and I've been using it since - almost two years now.

I have often wondered about using a shorter break cue to achieve a fuller stroke. Perhaps using a shaft with a Euro taper to impart more energy into the cue ball.

John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues has made shorter Break Cues for about 5 years. There have been a dozen or so customers that have opted for that design. Putting a plug in your case, makes everything OK.

John also sell longer cues for player that likes that style. John is truly a custom cue maker who strives to please the player. John also makes the BreakRAK Custom Break Cue, specially designed with break shot taper on a laminated shaft, hard tip & custom balanced.

Just get the Mezz their short break Cue is the Nuts. In fact, all their break cues are great. You won't be disappointed. They are pricey but well worth it.

My Varney J/B cue is a 57" (inch shorter then a standard cue) I used to play with a 60" player so the 3" difference was tough to get used too.

I have since figured out my grip and stance to really crush the rack. I still "wif it" sometimes and miscue. I blame it on having a looooonnnngg reach and a short break cue.

This is what I was told; short means stiffer.

Currently I am using a Murrell Huebler pete conversion with a PH shaft and a phenolic ferrule/tip. However I am thinking of sending it back to Kenny for a shorter shaft with a Euro taper to see what happens.

Balance Matters More Than Length.... Try A Break Cue With A Severe Forward Balance, You'll Be Pleasantly Surprised.

As Far As Shorter Goes, I Guess It Depends On Height. With A Large Arm Span, The Short Cues Feel Very Uncomfortable.

I've got a buddy that has a cheapo Spalding with a custom shaft that's flimsy(SP) as hell (probably more than a Meucci) and that thing breaks
em up like the cue ball is a bowling ball. I'm not sure what the deal is, but that thing is crazy. I do believe it is about 3 inches shorter than my cue.
