Should Mosconi Cup have one woman

Missing the whole point?? ya kiddin' ,right?
Mosconi was all about straight pool. What does MR do? Make it a short race 9-ball format.
ugh.
Agreed,..... longer than 4 days, BUT that would only make more slaughter to team USA.
Make it
Straight pool- endurance
15 ball rotation-pattern/position
9-ball on 10ft. - long table
1 Pocket- banks/aim
Then we all will know WHO the best all-around pool player is. 😬
Do you know anything about the MC? Its NOT about who the best player/players are. Its a made-4-Brit-tv exhibition. Its meant to be entertainment pure and simple. It needs fasts games/matches so it can be streamed/televised to wide audience. Seeing how long it has lasted the formula seems to work.

I don't know. About ten years ago I was watching some 10 ball at SBE. it was Jennifer Beretta vs. Stevie Moore. Hill-hill, Stevie pulled off a win. I much enjoyed watching Jenn.

I'd watch Jenn doing her dishes. ;) She can play a little for sure.

You know what?? Perhaps you are right. I have been watching more snooker lately , and the WPC seems more interesting than MC lately as well. If your view is correct; then MR must think American pool is just an outlier for amusement,(which it seems the case lately). WHY would I pay as an American to see team USA get pasted every year? OR, given the opportunity to win by playing Europe's "second string?" I thought MR was trying in earnest to expand the game, not increase its revenue.
If MR sees it that way, then just make Earl a regular on team USA.

Jenn likes to do her "woman" thing. She gets 2 games behind in the match and off comes her sweater. She often wears a loose top revealing her arms and shoulders. seen it many times and I don't mind watching either!;)

Yes, Europe has Kelly Fisher, Jasmin Ouschan and Kristina Tkach. All three are significantly better players than any American woman. The inclusion of women would likely make the Mosconi Cup even more lopsided than it is presently.
Precedence says that Kristina would be on Team USA! Plus, Allison would be on Team USA as well. A lot of guys in the USA dream about Jasmin, so she should also be on Team USA, right?

The MC has become more of a sports event but the problem now is the utterly pathetic state of U.S. big-table pool. Barboxes rule-the-roost in US pool thus we just don't produce players like Europe. Hell Poland could field their own MC team and possibly win. Having Gorst will help but until we start getting 'homegrown' big-table players the US will continue to get beat in the MC. As for adding a gal to the mix? Why not. Couldn't hurt and may just add to the entertainment value.

This is why I think it would add to the spectacle, especially when a woman wins a singles match :) it might widen the audience.

I doubt they'd put the women heads-up against the men. Maybe but i doubt. They'd play scotch-partners and heads-up with another woman.

This is a FACT. When I'm watching pool on the tv, my significant other does not bat an eye. But when there's a woman shooting, she is glued to the tv and wants to see if they will get out.

Adding women to the event would be a gimmick and do nothing to further the event. While they may have women in some of their events, it’s clear that Matchroom’s focus is strictly on men’s professional 9ball. Maybe when they get men’s pool to the level they want they can divert some attention to the women’s game. But that’s a ways away I think.

All I'm saying is why all the hype and pressure over MC? Make it like the Derby, then it has clout in pool. I know, I know slow pool is a snooze to watch for most.
I keep saying this... Keep the Mosconi the way it is but play on 7 footers while on Merican soil.

Everyone seems to think the BB game is what keeps the USA down on the global scene. So let spice up the clash and see how the Euros fair on the small turf every other year.

Id sure be interested to read @justnum dumdum'thoughts on the matter.

I'm just imagining how the London crowd would get on the womans opponent 😋

Of course we should ruin the most watched and most fun event of the year, geez, why didn't Matchroom think of this

Imagine living in the year 0. How much respect did women have?

Repeat for 1500, 1600, 1900, 1910, 1920

Since women have joined the military technology development has accelerated faster than ever.

There are several talented and capable women, if no one is paying to create opportunities for them to develop and lead then the adoption of billiards will be slower.

Imagine if no one gave Amelia the plane to fly.
Today which women in the billiard industry are as proven as experienced as Allison Fisher. Allison is the list and she should decide the future of women in pool.

A discussion on if women belong in the Mosconi is a political theater. I hope women win with a majority support from everyone else.

If you argue cost vs benefits not paying women and increasing women pay and women employment then you are on the decay model. Including women financial is an upfront cost for a chance at viral growth.

Without that investment you can watch the cycles of failure by promoters.

I think Mosconi Cup is special because it’s the best of the best on merit between the two teams. It clearly works. I don’t think you need to thumb the scales in the format to intentionally include a marginalized population.

I think the WPBA attempting to run its own team-based event would be of more interest to me than tinkering with the MC.
