Should the Director(s) Have Stopped the 2018 Mosconi Cup?

Typical fans screaming from the bleechers during a game isnt the same thing as fans continuing behavor they've been asked (warned) to stop.

Consecuences range from their removal to penalties for the home team and everything in between.

Fans screaming from the bleachers during a game isn't the same as fans screaming from the bleachers during a game?

When Chen was working with Roy he was intentionally sharking her while practicing getting her accustomed to the loud and sudden noises that not only she would hear in the money match but also in tournament play here where the TD will be on the mike with not just match announcements but other stuff as well ,,
I actually think that's harder to fade than a continues noise , that becomes white noise

And it was GLORIOUS.:thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2:
More dignity, style, and class in that place than all the bar table shootouts with loudmouth caclutta directors in the entire country.

I agree, but for non pool players to enjoy this event, I think it wasn't as exciting as lets say, a women's pro tennis final, or golf final or Any final in any other woman's sport. It was bland.

Was there even 100 people in the arena on a Sat. night to watch the finals?
I was hoping they would be filled.

You must be fun at a party. ;) Dude, its a made-4-tv "exhibition" and in that context it is perfect. Sell-out crowds and a lot of interest. Kinda reminds me of golf's "Skins Game", not "real" golf but entertaining. Hell, let's bring back Irving Crane and Jimmy Caras and really put people to sleep. Yeah, that's what pool needs, morticians with cues.

Come on now. Crane did 150 & out in a tournament and Caras wasted no time at all between shots................ :)

I've played enough in bars and pool rooms in my lifetime to know the difference between playing with a noisy background and dead silence and to tell you the truth, it's much easier and less distracting when no one single sound can distract you, background noise is much easier to block out!!!

At past Mosconi Cups, what is coming from the stands has been much more than simple background noise, such as the case of fans throwing things at the players and the time one of the player's wife was insulted. Rudeness is rudeness pure and simple and should never happen nor be tolerated.

Maniac (being sure to mention that this is JMHO)

I agree, it has gotten a bit over-the-top. The promoter/director/referee needs to keep it within limits.

Can you be more specific, which MC?

Can you be more specific, which MC?

Please don't ask me to search for this.

A pacifier was thrown at Earl Strickland and someone shouted something rude about Johnny Archer's wife. Maybe not even in the same MC, but surely you remember these examples.

I'd be willing to bet there has been more of this behavior than we actually see on the streams/videos.

It's totally uncalled for and rude as hell as far as I'm concerned.

With all the grandstanding, races to five and pockets bigger than a pickle barrel, the MC just needs to go away entirely, IMHO.

If you want poo to be popular in the modern world this is what it needs to be. The days of guys playing straight pool in suits quietly clicking in balls is long gone.

Everything you said is what makes this even fun.

I don't believe snooker is a good comparison. And wrestling isn't, either. However, I agree with some of the people who believe the MC is over the top WRT unsportsmanlike conduct by the fans. Nothing against background noise, cheering and all that. But the hooligan-type behavior of some fans is just too much, IMHO. And when the ref calls for quiet there should be consequences for some of the worst offenders. Throw 2 or 3 of them out of the arena and the MC will be civilized again. Not to the degree of a snooker match. No need to go there. With police having to search fans for forbidden stuff, arrests and all that.

BTW, this is the reason I don't watch soccer games in Europe any more. The hooligans took over although the clubs get punished. We don't want to see pool go there.

IMHO, there is a huge difference between having fun, being cheerful and behaving like an a**. A person really interested in any sport will always have at least a little tiny bit of respect for the person they are NOT rooting for. Else it is some wrestling circus where this bs is intended.

This I would pay money to see. lol

It's an isolated incident, of course. Different from the prolonged disregard for refs that's questionable at best.

I prefer it to be relatively quiet. I hate that I have been using headphones to not only drown out the ambient noise but also for a consistent background sound (though I prefer the sound of the game).

One of my a-hole friends thinks that sharking is part of how pool is played. but then again he thinks his daddy can run a 100 balls at will and is a great pool hustle (made a living playing pool). Haven't seen his daddy paly since I started playing back in 2002 so I have no judgment on how well he could play. But considering how little my friend knows about straight pool (the game his daddy was so great at) not even knowing that a break ball was used to go from rack to rack. Sorry guys, went of in a tangent here...
