Should There be a seperate forum for the BB?

Just wondering if it might be a good idea to have a separate forum for the Bar Box? There are a lot of BB players on here. There are some parts of the US that have mostly bar boxes. The states of Washington and Texas come to mind quickly. There are hundreds of BB 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball tournaments around the country. Most games take different skills on a BB compared to a 9’ table. I think that as long as AZ has a separate forum for one game, 14.1 that’s played almost always on a 9’ table while there are 100,000’s more that play 4 or five different games on a BB. There is the APA, TAP, BCA leagues, along with the bar table championships just to name a few of the big ones. Probably half the bars in the country have bar boxes. What do all you BB players think? Should we have a separate forum? BB haters need not respond. Johnnyt

It might separate the community a bit.

Someone might ask a general question in the BB forum and not get as many responses because some of us who play exclusively on bigger tables might not visit the BB section very often and vice versa.

I don't hate it

I just don't play it. I used to- 40 years ago when I was chasing a barmaid. Unfortunatley, I caught her. That's another story.

I like the idea. I recall that it's a very different game-more congested field, different strageties.

Johnnyt-I don't believe there is anyone more pro-BB or knowlegeable about the BB game on this forum than you(maybe Keith-but he doesn't post much). Perhaps you could be the/a moderator.

A BB sub-forum could be well attended-as you say- they get a lot of play. I know I would listen and learn and add questions. I like the idea.

I hope others do too.

Be well/take care.

Nahh!

Too many of us play on both and I don't want to make either seem elite.
Also , I like to hear the barroom stories. They seem to be more fun than
9-footer stories. It works now, why change it?

I'll admit it's a fair bit different from regular pool, but my thinking is... when you separate something from the main forum, you don't want it to be something that most of the guys in the main forum would want to read. Cuz then they all have to click a whole 'nother category to read it.

Some barboxers might not touch a 9ft for long stretches, most of the regular 9ft players will at some point play on a barbox... either when going to a bar with buddies, or in league. So they'd be interested in reading it and would just as soon read it in the main forum.

Also, I don't know that there's another barbox-ONLY strategy/tricks/whatever that can be fit into a unique forum. Yeah you got the weighted cue ball and smaller sides and more traffic. Once we're done talking about that, what else is there?

Don't agree with a separate forum, but I think it would be useful to make a STICKY where players give advice on switching between barboxes and full-size tables. There have already been a number of such threads.

If it ain't broke..........

I play only on BB's. I also see the threads specifically refering to BB play on a regular basis. Perhaps I am too lazy to peruse 2 seperate locales, or maybe I'm just opposed to change for the sake of change. Either way.....I am content with the way things are now and see no real need for a seperate forum.....Dan

Johnny, perhaps a "BAR BOXERS" private user / Social group? that option is here (left hand side of the page at forum menu)... I dont know if your a memebr of any of the user groups here but you can post threads to be viewed by members of that group, post pics, etc... Maybe you get it up a running with a bunch of people of like interest?

Just a thought.

Thank you for the kind words. Johnnyt

It seems like most want to leave it the way it is and most have good points for leaving it here on the main forum. Thank you all for your input. Johnnyt
