I don't think Matchroom cares what you or I think. They think very little of pool, they would never DARE to change the colour scheme in snooker, but pool they'll change on a whim. In all honesty, I doubt they take the sport seriously at all. They certainly don't respect it much, in as far as the sporting aspect goes. They're English after all, they think anything but snooker is a joke.
My hypothesis is that pool to them is like a really old car you see out in a yard somewhere for almost no money, so cheap that it seems like you could buy it with some pocket change or whatever you find between your couch cushions. And even though it's not a Porsche 911, it has some character and is kind of neat looking. Sure it's worth maybe going through the steps of starting the engine, maybe change the break disks etc and other small stuff like that especially if you have some parts lying around, and if it starts and runs, it's fine. Then you can daily drive it, or flip it perhaps, and make a little money. But if there is any incling of more costly problems, it goes straight back to the junkyard, and you forget all about it.
For what it's worth, I like Centennial ball sets in the traditional colours, but I doubt Matchroom cares one iota.
