I wouldn't consider the ones with the points as Merry Widows.01rkclassic said:
The original Merry Widow concept as far as I know is the single piece of wood for the butt, no points or adornments.
When adding the wrap, the original concept was the same except a groove for the wrap was added, but still a single piece of wood from forearm, handle, to butt.
The multi-piece butt can be considered "Merry Widow Style" or some such distinction, as long as the forearm and the butt sleeve the same wood type, as to mimic a single piece of wood.
I think we're really pushing the limits if we can consider the wrapless handles with diffferent wood (e.g. the photos that Kevin Varney posted among others) as "Merry Widow Style," but I don't have a say and that style whatever it is certainly is reminiscent of the Merry Widow but IMO, it's so far removed at that point.
All these other cues with rings and such I think are okay to call a Merry Widow or Merry Widow style, as long as the forearm and butt sleeve are the same wood type, but obviously, once the rings get pretty fancy and inlays are added, then we get into a gray area like some of these Sneaky Petes that don't resemble a bar cue anymore.

My Tad
Wow, in all the excitement I had for my new Gina, I forgot about my Tad! It was just waiting in the corner, after a recent refinish, for it's turn....I bought it new sometime around 1980....I think it's Tad's homage to Harvey Martin.....here it is...
