Show us your speed

I need to get my video recorder out more. I played the 9-ball ghost a week or so ago and ended up about even on a 9-foot somewhat loose table. I'm pretty sure I can beat the 7-ball ghost on the same table, but the 8 or 9-ball ghost would probably be a toss-up.

This video pretty much sums up my game: Had a perfectly good run going, screw up a shot and fluke it in anyway. Heh

And here's another one that I somehow managed to lose my mind and force myself into a bank (I hate banking). This one is actually a quick rack I take after playing a little safety battle, the guy leaves me a 1-9 carom. He breaks dry the next rack I run out (it's alternate break in this league format).

Sadly, my game has been stuck at around that level for the last year. These videos are about a ball or so above my "everyday/average" playing. There's plenty of full sets there, complete with ridiculous errors and everything.

And lastly, another example of how NOT to run a rack when your opponent leaves you a gift (including corner-hooking yourself)

That looks like Cue and Cushion in St. Louis.

Nice job btw.

You would be absolutely correct. :) And thanks!

Just watched a few of your vids - that's pretty damn sporty stuff ya got there (the newest one in particular).

There were plenty of misses in those videos that didn't get shown, but thanks!

I'm only 90 miles north of you, I get down to Cue and Cushion every now and then. It's a good place. Maybe someday I can catch up to ya in St. Louis and play a few. Take care!

I hate to point out the negative, but: Anyone can post a few hand picked run out videos. May or may not be an accurate assessment of their game. Heck, might not even be them at all. We might even have guys posting vids of themselves playing like crap, just to establish themselves as fish that need weight. I don't mean that against anyone in particular, just pointing out the realities of the internet.

That's an unfortunate, but fair, concern. Hopefully anyone who's posted also has other videos of them out there in their channel.

Personally, I tried to pick videos that showcased my best speed, which isn't all that good when compared to any regional player. But then again, I'm a rare breed of pool player - not looking for the nuts at every chance. I don't play pool to win money, I want a challenge and I want the personal satisfaction knowing that if I won, it was a fair game; a game which required both of us to player our best. If I get out-shot, congrats to them, if I dog it, that's my fault. I don't want to win because it was a bad game from the start.

Shot this Sunday while waiting for my son to get done with his match in Jr League.

Practicing a few shots I have issues with, and a few racks of 9 ball. If you want to skip past the shot practice, go to the 7 minute mark.

I start off with a harder shot than you would with ball in hand for the run, and table roll got me at least once (I think on the one ball shot up the rail, hit it soft and had to adjust a bit as it rolled away from the pocket).

I was going to wear a mini skirt, but you'll just have to comment on my shots :)

I have a number of videos from the poison tour that are online as well. Mostly im a loser when it comes to playing on camera, especially when I play my buddy ray linares. He seems to get really pumped up by beating me senseless on camera, recorded and posted online for the world to see.

Is your last name pronounced YouWatEh? Or YouWate? Or OoWatEh?

The 8 ball shot at 8:43 or so is my least favorite angle to shoot, it's what I was practicing in my video, your arm went all over on that shot also hehe.

correct japanese style pronunciation is use the accent oo wah Teh. gringos (like me) rhyme it like karate.

i have heard so many versions. u wait being the most common. My sixth grade biology teacher fumbled with it and said u twat ee

my buddy cobb said my porn name was Blow yer wadde

I wasnt comfortable at the US amateur. I was playing injured with a knee and back problem and my mechanics were really poor. I have poor fundamentals alot and its a miracle I can make a ball. Brian Parks gave me a good tip on how my lower body was aligning wrong just last week. Its tough to correct problems after 30 years.

It's good to have short videos like these. I have a bunch of these myself and if it was all i ever posted you'd think I was golden. My point is unless it's a video playing a set it's still hard to gauge someone's speed.

This is very true. I just had a level 4 player run a rack on me last weekend lol... I hate handicap tourneys. I would rather play the already mentioned Luther Lassiter even than someone racing to 4 or 5 to my 11. Atleast I would be learning something playing Luther :)

That's what I thought after I saw you :-) Before I saw you on the video, in my head I was saying "YouWate" whenever I came across your user name.

Don't have many of myself. Don't really video myself, but one is one my wife got on her phone at a tourney, and one from a friend videoing a match.

First one I wished I had the whole match on video. It was a race to 10 for me and a race to 7 for my opponent. It ended up 10-1 and the rest of the match was basically just a repeat of the video

Just short clip in another tourney

But I also agree you can't guage speed by small clips.
