Show us your speed

This is a video the local paper did about my playing 4 years ago:

I like the commentary in your video. Your story about Archer reminded me of a one pocket tourney I entered not long ago. In the 3rd round I played a real good short stop that plays for a living. Got him down 2-0 by just keeping him in the stack as much as possible. I lost as he came roaring back and beat me 3 straight. A single mistake against a really good player can cost you dearly.

Don't have a video of me playing though, as a matter of fact, I don't even own a video camera.:p

In the video I was playing 5 ahead for a bill. I like 5 ahead because you have to win not edge out....you know what I mean? Hill Hill with the ghost vs 5 ahead beating the ghost is something different.

I like the idea of an ahead set.

Related question: when someone says they can "beat the ghost," what does that mean to you? Does that mean they have, at some point in their lives, beaten the ghost? Like a high run in straight pool?

Or does that mean they can beat the ghost any time, anywhere, every time?

Or something in the middle?

These are entirely different speeds.

If you beat it once and lost 30 times then you cant "beat the ghost." Beating the ghost is beating it 75% of the time. If you are confident enough to play it for money and you win most of the time then you can beat the ghost. This is just my outlook of the ghost.

I tried to upload a full set and it wouldn't let me so i broke it up into smaller pieces. They are on you tube under eddie0776. Like I said I am no pro, but will play some. ;) If I can figure out how to upload the full set I will. It is broken down into like 8min pieces. Not sure how to get it all on there. I will try to ustream a set and post it for anyone that doubts how I play.

I'm afraid it gets even more complicated than that.
For example, I used to destroy the 9 ball ghost on my home 8 footer with big pockets. On my GC with 4" pockets I'm playing on now I have yet to win a set in maybe 15 tries. Equipment matters big time. Some days I go downstairs to practice and quit 5 mins in because I'm too pissed off to continue after rattling a few balls. I sure would feel better if they were 4.5".

I don't think I'd enjoy the game on 4" pockets, that's like walking around with a rope tied tight around your sack just because you feel like you'll have too good of a day without it. 4" pockets the annoyance would win over the fun.

No doubt! I bought it because it was the money table at the last surviving pool hall we had in town. I had to have something to remember it. My runout percentage varies from 20-40%. The old 8 footer was more like 70-80%.

I played for about 5 years before putting up the cue to work once my daughter was born (was 20 when i stopped and now im 29). Just got back into the mix about 3 months ago and my game is no where near what it once was, but getting there......not much to look at but here ya go.]

Drunken friend in background trying to coach me lol, too funny!

Shot this video about a month ago, since then Ive changed my grip and cradle the cue every so gently with more wrist movement.

Here is one from me tonight after work. I will post up some more after I find my other SD card, this one is only 1 gig so I can't fit too much video on it.

Also the next one will need to be after dark, too much back light in this vid, sorry.

Anyhow, this isn't my best effort. I do play better than this but it is what it is and I was pressed for time. I wasn't proud of my break here because the CB was getting away from me, something I usually control very well. And I got out of shape once a bit. I will do some more to give you a better idea of how I play.
