Shut up or put up -- 28 seconds spinning cue ball

Already eclipsed by a 43-second "2-cue, ball-assisted" try last night, the video of which Peer may get from Colin's cell phone.

But without specifying the surface the shot is played on, the record doesn't mean much. New Simonis 300 is going to give a much different result than fuzzy snooker cloth. Even on one table, the rate of slowing seems to vary a lot depending on where the cue ball stops.

Wouldn't a highly polished and waxed cue ball also affect the result?

I tell you what... I'm not sure you could pay me enough to stand or hold my camera that close to the pocket while a buddy of mine is trying to hit a ball as hard as possible and as far off center as possible in my direction.

Yeah... imagine how it might feel if that cue ball were to jump the table and fly in a very dangerous direction. I could see "doubling-over time" coming...

Ewwww..... what's a loogie smell like? And is a loogie, um, what I think it is?

I think Doug is refering to a thick green mucos hacked off the back of a sick persons throat.

My friends and I had a contest like this a few years ago, I'll let you know when my cue ball stops spinning so you have something to shoot for.

Yes, I think so. I'm not sure that WD-40 would help, but I think either paste wax or ArmorAll could up the time by up to a factor of two, depending on how bad the cloth and ball are to start with.

Flying Balls

Well actually, I think I prefer my friends -- although they'll occasionally hit you in the face with flying balls.
Gross...you let your friends T-Bag you:eek:

Takers for what? To post a video of a longer spinning cue ball? Maybe people have better things to shoot for and try to accomplish.

i could spin it on the floor or counter top longer then 28 secs. bob is right about the specified surface. nice effort in trying to start something cool but i dont think there will be many takers

Better things to accomplish..?! Yeah right. Remember you're addressing AzB people here. Good try though.

No, I think Peer just offends people when it's convenient for him ;).

So Colin and I tried spinning a carom ball on used Simonis 300 and finally got to 57 seconds. I think my tip is ruined, though -- I'll use a house cue next time.

Oh, I'm sorry, that was very offensive of me to even suggest that people here think it's better time spent reading a long thread about spinning a cue-ball rather than actually trying this in real. Mea culpa.
