What is the best way you propose to auction a cue on AZ without stirring a hornets nest?

This works for me.....

I usually get around this by putting anything I have to move up on A-Z first at my minimum price. If it dosen't move or generate interest off to EBAY and I usually include a link for people's convenience. To be honest I haven't sold very much here lately most of the action has been directly off our websight or the last 2 cues I sold went to Singapore via EBAY with no problems.

This is a Wanted/For Sale classified section. Sometimes cues that are for sale are on Ebay. This is just another buying/sales tool. Generally, the hyperlinks provided will have some clue that the cue's on Ebay, or the thread will say something to the tune of "For Sale on Ebay". If I'm not interested in the cue because it's on Ebay, I simply don't click on the link...

I sometimes list a cue here before eBay. That way I can give a better price on it without the eBay fees. I find I get more money for the cue on eBay than AZ. I get alot of low ball bargain hunter offers here on AZ. Az in my opinion is more of a buyers marketplace than for sellers.

Of course it is, most of the people here know what things are worth.
And you see them sometimes here, those who try to sell things to expensive and get cranky and childish because other members point out that they are asking to much for their item.

With all due respect to your opinion sometimes it is done merely to offer better pics and ad presentation without having to take up band width on the forum. You can usually just PM and do business thru the forum anyway.:D

rackem you need to try Auctiva for your eBay listings. It is free and they supersize your pictures for free. They also have free templates. Az is geared more toward the higher end custom cue market, which I meant to mention earlier.

Thanks I will check it out! I know that AZ is geared toward the higher end cues. But members have shown plenty of interest in what I offer. I have been selling this stuff for 9 years. I also do hand select prime stock for AZ members.:D Kind of "Custom Selected Production Imports" so to speak.:D  There are plenty of League players and young players reading this forum that would enjoy what I offer. I mean if this is all one can afford or if you are just looking for a beat around bar cue why not get it from a forum member who knows how to pick the sweetest ones.  :D

It is NOT that the people here KNOW what things are worth. Everything is worth something different to each person. It is the value that YOU place on it AND/OR what Others place on it that makes it worth something. It is the difference between what you would accept to sell it, and what the other guy will PAY for it. When those two areas meet, the cue sells, and both parties are happy with the outcome. But if those two specific thought processes are not in the same ballpark, the item stays in YOUR closet. Doesn't mean that it is overvalued to YOU. Hey, some things just mean more to the owner than the prospective buyers. Unless the owner lessens the value he holds towards the item, he will keep it. But that is not always a bad thing, just means it is worth more to you than what others will offer. Might be sentimental, or just your opinion.
That is the whole game played here every day- it is bargaining and haggling to get something for what you would ACCEPT to pay for it.
So is it a Buyers or Sellers site?
My answer is it is a Haggling site, not an EBAY auction site. If something sells, then both people got what they decided was fair at the time. So how can it be a BUYERS or a SELLERS site? Throw it up, and see what comes to you, and if you will accept it. Or take a chance on the Ebay Auction process, and accept the final bid. Either way, it is the seller's decision to sell, or just walk away and keep what they have.

My two cents.

I don't mind at all if someone posts a link to their own auctions. At least then I know the auction is by a member of AZ, maybe even someone I'm familiar with.
