Sigel's GPPA League Ball-In-Hand Handicap System

I watched the Sigel-Fleming interview on Pat's website. For me, one thing stood out in the interview. It was not the money. It was not the league structure, or the national tournament in Las Vegas. It was the ball-in hand rules. Pocket Billiards is very, very difficult. It is miserably hard for most people. This concept recognizes the fact that a small percentage of people can actually play this game with some proficiency and there is a much larger market out there that can't play well, will never be able to play well, no matter how much they practice, or how many lessons they take.....but they certainly do or could enjoy playing.

I am very interested in seeing this concept in action. I want to see if it has legs.

I wouldn't be surprised if he hit a homerun with this league if he really has enough committed backing. Johnnyt

I've been curious about this league, myself. It seems that any handicap system can - and will - be cheated, especially when there is money at stake. And let's face it, Mike is talking about a lot of money in his league. But if Mike has found a way that he can keep the cheaters out, he just might have a winner. The potential market is huge.

I want to keep an eye on this one.

It will be interesting to see how the BIH-handicap works.

I've often said that I'll play SVB even-money and no games on the wire. My only handicap is that I get BIH on every shot. :D

Even then, I'd keep the bet small.

I don't understand the match or game format. This was copied from his site:

"* * *a. * Very important:* If teams win matches, which should be race to 3, 4 or 5 (5 out of 9 games is a match), and team wins 3-2, this team will get 3 points.* If the team wins 4-1, the team will receive 5 points.* If a team wins 5-0, the team will receive 7 points.* If a team loses in any way, 2-3, 1-4 or 0-5, the team will get 2 points.* The top team points at the end of each session will playoff."

How many games are being played by the team?

How many games by one player?

Don't understand 5 out of 9 games is a match and team wins 3-2. How does that add up to 9?

Can someone explain it better?

Thanks.
