They're not out yet but Sim is expecting to ship them soon.
If you have an account in Gurnee then Felice can quote you a price.
Expect to pay more at wholesale.

I ordered some simonis from a local supplier, he dropped it at my house friday and I opened the box today and to my surprise, one of these simonis cleaners was in it. I haven't used it yet but its alot smaller than what I imagined. I think this is going to be a great seller for my simonis customers.

I posted this in a section on vacuuming a table, I didn't know there was a thread for the X-1.

I picked up a Simonis X-1 It came in via UPS and I took it out of the box, I felt disapointed, It seemed small and just had a white pad on the bottom. It was heavier than I was expecting but I felt "well you just threw 90 bucks away" (this wouldn't be the first time).

My table had been vacuumed the day before and I had had about a four hour session the night before with a friend playing 14.1. I shot a couple of racks and noted my palm was getting blue (a sure sign I need to clean the table) I thought I would try the X-1.

I read and the followed the directions, the pad turned a little blue and the table "looked clean". I washed my hands and played six racks of 14.1 as practice and to dirty up the table again. After I played, I checked my hand it was still clean!

It worked! I don't know how or why but it does clean the chalk off the table and rails. I have used it a few more times since then and it has worked each time.
I still have to vacuum to get lint, dog hair and unfinished ceiling stuff off the table but the chalk dust is gone.

I can't say how many times I have been disapointed by a new product (I am an early adopter, still smarting from my betamax experience) it was refreshing to have a product work as claimed.

I have not vacuumed the X-1 yet I want to see how long it takes before it "gets full".

I first to complain when a product doesn't work, so I thought it only fair to report on one that does work.

Donny's had so much one on one time with me that there was no need for him to show up at the seminar trust me:grin::grin::grin:

bump for more reviews...

definitely better than brushing, not sure if its better than vacuuming. But I will say this, we put on a tournament this saturday and it was nice to not have to lug in a shop vac to get the tables clean and much quieter also. I have a monthly cleaning service for bar tables and I won't be replacing the vac for the service. I think it would be great in a home setting where the players have sessions for a few hours and then want to clean the chalk off.

Has anyone cleaned with one of these and come back with a damp towel to see if the towel picked up anything?

Lately I've been using a damp microfiber towel and using it nearly like a shammy. Microfiber seems to be better than terry cloth.

Interested in the X1 but need a better warm and fuzzy feeling before forking the $$.

Microfiber does work better then terry cloth but either will remove the chalk marks and help keep the sheen on the cloth.

Occasional reviews of the X1 have been positive.
Here's one from Poolchat - http://www.poolchat.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6053

We've sold around 20 of them so far without a complaint.

One more review

Dug this thread out of oblivion because I recently purchased the x-1, and I'm happy to speak for its efficacy. This tool really works. I'm not so surprised, because Simonis has earned my trust. It's another quality product that's handy to keep near the table. You can even spiff up the cloth between sets with little effort.

Here is a link that explains how micro fiber cloths work the way that they do.

http://www.meyersix.org/the_secret_life_of_swiffers.htm

It also explains that the cloth needs to be used dry and not damp or wet.

Also has a explanation why it won't work on teflon coated cloth.

That's on swiffers, not microfiber... Unless people are calling them microfiber... When I think of microfiber clothes I think of these from 3M
mediawebserver
not a swiffer...

So? Are swiffer clothes what people are thinking about and using on tables? Or are they talking about using a 3M microfiber cloth and using it damp?

I also bought mine about a month ago, and I love it. Although for some reason in the graphic on their site, I assumed that the X-1 was larger. I would like it much better if it was 2-3 times the size that it is.

I'll be buying another one to make cleaning the table cleaner faster with two of us working.

Great product. I wish I knew more about how to empty it, other than just smacking it.

I have not personally used them but simonis recommended to our customer that they vacuum it out periodically.
