Since Ronnie O isn't playing...

I was curious who ya'll thought would be the best pick to fill in the spot he forfeited in Orlando. I looked at the last issue of Billiard Digest at the Power Index and the top two who didn't make the players list in Orlando are Danny Basavich and Charlie Bryant. I'm a little one sided between these two because I know Hillbilly, but they both obviously have their resumes to back up being picked. I was wondering who you guys might choose. Not just those two, but any of the other tour members included as well.
I wonder also how they're gonna choose.

Danny Basavich plays so slow he'd piss off spectators and viewers to the point that there would be terrorist threats at tournaments he enters

don't forget that the choice will be a TV choice, not necessarily what you or i want.

If it's TV value they want, I definitely would go with the Hillbilly. That Carolina good ole boy charm would draw an audience south of the Mason Dixon line and we all know he's got game. He is one of the good guys in pool for sure. I've only watched Danny play once (at the BCA Open) and he didn't seem too slow then. I must say there were tons of other matches going on at the same time so I could have a lapse in memory. IMO, give it to the Hillbilly.

Are you sure hillbilly was not on the card to begin with? I can's imagine any pro event without him in it. His break is awesome. When he breaks an 8ball rack he will pocket five or more balls at a time.

Tyler Edey.

He just won a pretty big event for $5000 in Calgary that pulled most of the top Canadian talent. He also won a big event in Edmonton that also had a very strong field just weeks ago. He is probably the strongest Canadian player atm not including Pagulayan.

Yup, I'm sure. He's one of the 150 on the main players list but fell short of an invite in Orlando. I agree about his break. I've had him over here at my home for lessons several times and watching him break is just humbling to say the least. He wasn't sure if he was going to even bring his equipment to Orlando since he wasn't going to be playing, but I hope he does. It's not just hitting the cue ball hard though. I watched him lag on my 9 footer four, five, and six long rails down the center of the table within a few inches CONSISTENTLY. Pretty darn sporty.

I've never heard the name. That doesn't mean much though. I see his name on the list and with wins like that, he must be hot. Were either of those wins 8-ball?

I'll take any Canadian, heard lots but haven't seen Edey play yet Luc Salvas is always a crowd favorite.

Hmmm, I think Linda Carter or Mike Zimmerman. <j/k> :D

I think it should be Santos. He just won the Skins tourney.

TX Poolnut, tell Hillbilly to bring his equipment as I think it is going to be photographed to be put on their website. Plus, I am sure there is going to be a lot of action and at least practicing in some local poolhalls.

Tyler is a very talented young kid on the way up. And he is cute as a button. lol.

Howdy Linda

Yeah, I've bugged him a couple of times about bringing his stuff. It would be nice to meet you and I'm sure I will. I am sooo looking forward to this event. I have said it before in other posts - I am really looking forward to the ladies making a good showing at KOH. My girlfriend and I are rooting for the ladies and others are too, of course. I'll probably call him tommorrow and let him know if he doesn't already about the pictures. His computer is dead so I'm not sure if he's getting all the info that I assume ya'll are being sent. That's why he doesn't post in his "Ask the Pros" section. Maybe after January he'll get a new computer. lol See ya in Florida.

Thank you for the good wishes. Look me up, I will be listening for that cute Texas drawl. ;) I am pm'ing you with more meeting information he should know.

Thank ya maam.

Anything you pass to me, I'll make sure he gets. I'm picking him up at the airport so he'll get it then probably. I'll make sure he know where it came from. Much obliged and God bless from the Hillbilly.

Despite the complaints of slow play, Danny Basavich has as much personality and game as any player out there.

I heard he goes a bit nuts a couple times at the skins game against Santos after kicking in some crazy shots,etc... I really think this should be fun to watch when it comes on. Since Lions Gate films is producing his movie, he wore a SAW II shirt during most of the tourney I think.

Some players might cry about his pace of play, but no one entertains people more than him and this is TV so he's my pick.

I would like to see:

Quinten Hahn, ex World 8 ball champion and professional snooker player. He's also a total nutcase and actually recently had a boxing match with another snooker player after they had an argument lol

Also I think Darren Appleton will do well, ex 8 ball world runner up, and the most successful money player in the UK in the last 10 years. He's played for atleast $50,000 on occassions I believe. He also came 4th in the BCA masters at his first attempt (as far as I know) on American tables.
