I have the opportunity to purchase a James white 6 point cue.cue is ebony forearm with ambonya burl handle n points with ivory inlays in points.im close to joe from Classic cues n were sure it's a authentic James white,n james remembers cue..my question is how much does the cue not being signed affect value, n easy if sell it..I do know u can get it authenticated, and also the forarm has slight warp, how bad does this effect it..cue is 6 point with ambonya handle and ivory diamonds and anbonya diamonds in but ivory joint and rings here's few teaser pics

Run away from that cue faster than shit runs through a goose. It's the warp in the forearm.
If it was bent at the A joint then a repair might be possible. However, if there is a bend from the A joint to the pin, then pass it by.
That's a shame too. It's a looker.

I wouldn't worry about it being unsigned, but the warp would be cause for concern. I'd want to see it. If it's bad, then no way. If it's a tiny roll that you only notice if you're looking fo something then I'm sure it plays fine so if the price is right it could be good. Depends on how warped we're talking...hard to tell without getting hands on it.

Slide, a cue in that price range should be dead straight.

I don't see a price....I'm guessing it's priced taking that into account and therefor discounted significantly.

Ideally every cue, especially the expensive ones, would stay dead straight. Unfortunately it doesn't always happen. If the warp is minor then it can still be a great playing cue so it still has value....trouble is determining what that value is.

And I'll add that I probably wouldn't buy it, I can work with a small roll on an inexpensive player cue, but I wouldn't want to invest in an expensive cue, even at a big discount, that wasn't straight. But, some people might not be bothered by that and the fact that the OP is asking at all shows that he might be okay with it.

Price would be 1700 the cue plays fine n the wrap is minimal..I was prob gonna try flip it or have it fixed then sell I already have 2 killer sugartrees

Not necessarily something that can be fixed. I wouldn't buy it unless you want it as a player, as is.

That is what I was lookn for hep with ..my friend joe, classicists says James might be able to fix it..if it can't be fix I'm out I don't kneed another 1500 plus cue..lol in my case

Never buy a cue to flip with a issue, it's already been flipped by every new collector. I know from personal experience and don't want another to do the same. Mine was a R1 with a major warp, traveled around for a long time until I finally sold it on the bay with full disclosure and the buyer was more than happy. Honesty is the best policy, always.

Absolutely agree, here. Especially the honesty part. :)

Dont think it was fixed

So the r1 was fixed who. Fixed it

I don't believe the buyer fixed it, he wanted it as a player and the lift in the butt was not a issue to him personally. I purchased it to start a entry level cue collection and could not justify fixing it based on what it was worth, so I took a small hit but got the cue out of the loop of collectors to a good home where it would be played with. Point being it pays to be honest, something that bothers me may not bother another, just make sure they know what they are getting with full disclosure and everybody is happy. GL

Turns out I got the cue for cheap,I was wrong its a ten point cue so I did it...it off to James next week

Update just got off Instant message with James,it is one of his cues n he seems to think it was refinished .that y no signature it will be sent to James this week for him to put the jaw logo in butt of cue😬

Some cues with issues are worth the investment..........................

Hope fully it can be re tapered if the roll or warp is not to bad.

If the cue is 0.060 out of round , in order to get that 0.060 out of round out the for arm will have to be taken down 0.120................... Or damn near 1/8 or a inch.

Maybe some one with small hands might like it ?

Or you could have a new for arm installed.....
