Slow play

 Just watched Brandon Shuff and Ralph Souquet play at Valley Forge. Is is just a sin how slow they play. Two games took about 30 minutes. And SVB is just as bad. I realize they are playing for $25Gs, but my God, they must be taking stupid pills. Talking about over thinking - its a wonder they can shoot at all. Maybe they are trying to shark the other opponent - only God knows.

This is why I quit going to the US Open. Please bring on shot clocks, like in chess. Watching this s_h_i_t is boring as hell. I cannot bare to watch.

I agree one hundred percent with whitewolf. Shot clocks should be a part of every game, and let Earl decide what the appropriate amount of time is between shots (well, not really, but that's the one aspect of his game that makes the rest of his antics tolerable).

I just watched the match and I found it very exciting. The pressure of the situation dictated a lot of thought.

I do agree with you that slow play involving routine shots when nothing is on the line is annoying. But in this case, I give them a pass.

Congratulations to Brandon!

slow/ play

slow/ play it kills my game
if you are snookered i can see extra focus.
but anything over 45 seconds is bs .
my best shooting i shoot a ball in every 8 to 12 seconds.
i like the 30 second rule if you need a bridge or dry yours hands off
there time.

It's the death of pool. All those advocating PSR, aiming systems, checklist mechanics etc etc are the executioners.

Pool needs to be fluid and fluent. In its current state, it's neither. When snooker's a faster game than pool, there's something SERIOUSLY wrong. Too many egos and not enough spectacle.

As usual, you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

No kidding.

Watch speed pool sometime. Even with the goal being speed they still use a PSR. I think most people would be amazed at the amount of time they spend on a shot.

Speed is not mutually exclusive of such things.

I say they are there for a reason....so they must do something right. I like Ralph and SVB they bring class to the game

I actually like some slow play while watching a game.

Especiallly on TV, cause one it gives me a chance to ID the balls which is not that easy watching on stream or TV.

And then try and pick the correct pattern before the pro takes the first shot and then see what they pick, see how it worked, and actually learn a little bit.....

It's pool, what' not to like :)

Sorry, Ned, time has passed you by. Your ethos is old and tired; your methods usurped. Your legacy is a nation of crooked shooters, and your children are not interested in the game.

Move over.

I like it when people play slow in big money matches. 5 dollar one pocket I absolutely, 100% agree... it makes me wanna throw up to see a guy look at a shot for 10 minutes for a few bucks a game.

Tape the show so you can get your jollies. I do the same thing, but I still don't like slow play.

I watched Hadal (spelling?) and Schmidt play. Absolutely fast, furious, and beautiful. Hadal can really play. This is the way pool should be played.

As in major league baseball, the players SHOULD BE FINED if they take too long. Then this nonsense would stop!

Well- to every person his opinion.
But the way of using your *well choosen* words are just barefaced and rude. You re talking like a reayl professional railbird-but one of those who spend more time with watching.

Thread likes this will definitely will help in addressing the problem of slow play. I don`t know how many of you remember a thread in the past regards the slow play in which " kid delicious " was severely criticized for his infamous slow play. I do believe that thread influenced the pool community and it made the bigwigs to look at the problem of slow play. If we have threads like this periodically, pool community will definitely develop aversion for slow play and will demand for changes in the rules of the game.

I don`t play with slow players ( if I know it beforehand ) and I don`t even say hello to them when I see them.
I don`t care for the slow players.
