Slow vs fast cloth

The place I play 9 ball league just changed out one of their tables (7’ Valleys).
The replacement table has a much slower cloth than the other tables which use Simonis 860. For whatever reason, I play much better on the slow table than the fast tables. I like to say that it reminds me of the tables that I played on 40 years ago. While I seriously doubt that my muscle memory is that good, I was wondering if anyone else has a similar situation and how they react to it.
I will say that that the slow cloth is brutal to break on.
 
on a valley barbox I can probably string a few racks together. On a diamond barbox I constantly find myself out of line or over rolling position because the rails are so live, mostly tenball.
 
Breaking aside, I too feel like I play a little better on slower cloth. I believe that the intermediate to long shots are easier to control the roll of the cueball on. I'm talking about the near-straight shots that require you to stop the cueball near the point-of-contact. Draw seems to be a little easier to control too. On the flip-side, the three-rail and four-rail position shots are harder to pull off, imo.

I think it is as much to do with how you play as anything else, I myself prefer the table to be as quick as possible. I find myself playing position to a much greater accuracy the quicker the table is. This has IMHO to do with the fact that I don't really like to have to hit the ball too hard to gain position. I find my mechanices are much tighter if I can play with a little less pace.

The Diamond Bar Box is the best thing to happen to bar pool. Everything else is like a sand box. Just play more.:thumbup:
 
I like fast cloth because I prefer to play softer strokes and position is a little easier to accomplish without smashing the CB.

That said, I have slow cloth on my home table. :rolleyes:
