Smithsonian Museum Billiards/Pool Exhibit

Ginacue was invited to submit a cue. Ernie built what was to become the 18D and, when it came time to send it to the Smithsonian, guessed (correctly) the exhibition was not going to happen and decided to keep the cue. He subsequently sold the cue and the Smithsonian paperwork to a collector.

There's a little more interesting stuff about this cue, or rather this model, but maybe that's another story:

That is a sweet cue.

You know, I agree with you. Couple that with the Smithsonian paperwork and you've got what I felt was a super collectible opportunity. I offered it for sale here on AZ a few years ago in the $17K area (which was the price Ernie was quoting for a new 18D at the time) and didn't get a bite.

I was at several of the Smithsonian museums when I was younger. I got to see the Hope diamond, one of the Apollo space capsules that was recovered from the ocean, a massive pendulum clock, priceless works of art and Elvis's wardrobe ........This cue would have fit right in. It's a shame they are not doing the exhibit.

Smithsonian Cues

A member over at Jimbos got in to the Smithsonian and was able to take pics of all the cues. He posted them on the their site.

Really cool to see.

Was trying to post the link for you to see, but cant seem to get into Jimbos.

Anyone know the list of American 12 Cuemakers who were selected to be part of the Smithsonian Museum Billiards/Pool Exhibit. Understand the cue have been at the Smithsonian Museum almost 10 years.

Ernie Gutierez-California

Jim Buss-Missouri

Thomas Wayne-Alaska

Mike Bender-Alaska

Ive heard of Richard Black in fact I owned one about 10 years ago, never heard of Dennis Black tho
