Sml Open

Let the rivalry begin (continue?)...I'm predicting a Pagulayan versus Orcollo final.

Shane called me and said he plays Archer at 4:00 pm. He seems
very confident and he doesn't soun like he is intimidated by John.
I think Shane will go all the the way ,of course, as any grand pa
would. Buy the way " HAPPY BIRTHDAY",

ANY IN PROGRESS MATCH UPDATES FOR THIS?

Amazing to note that every colored A side bracket has at least one Canadian in it. Not just because it is in Canada, but the depth of their players. Boy do they play well!! Did I miss Horsfall's name?

I didn't see Johns name in there at all. I don't think it's there, I took a good look at each bracket to see if there were any players I knew.

Shane vs....hmmmm Johhny Archer...hmmmm .....let see...Johhny...world class pool player..winner world wide..years of experience..has advantage of knowing he can win any tournament..

SHane..incredible shooter...young ...full of piss and vinger..wants to be number one..has the advantage of being the underdog,,has a fan base to cheer him on..

.........Johhny is gona wax ...and i do mean wax that azzzz...

Shane will put up a fight ...a good one..but Johhny will come out the victor

Erik Hjorliefson vs Paul Potier
Kim Davenport vs Alain Martel
Tyler Edey vs Jason Klatt
Edwin Montal vs Luc Salvas

All of those would be some first class matches to see.

i think a year ago you might have been right...but times are changing....Archer knows he can we any or every tourney...but that in itself is just it...where is the desire to get there?? to be the man...when u already think you are the man??? I think that is Shane's advantage...wanting it more then Archer does........i would bet he puts much more into his game these days then Archer does

If there were a way to ensure that either of us would get paid, I'd take some games on the wire or odds on the money and bet a little something on Shane to make it interesting. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that either of us would get paid, so I guess I'm wasting my time typing this. But, hey, this is my 1200'th post! :)

any updates on this match?
Shane lost 10-11. He had the break on at 10-10 and scratched.

Pagulayan and Archer remain unbeaten in Canada

Former champions Alex Pagulayan and Johnny Archer are still on a collision course for the finals of the 2006 SML 9-Ball Open, but just barely.

2004 champion Johnny Archer needed a little luck to get by American Shane Van Boening in an early match on Thursday. The match was tied at 10-10 with Van Boening breaking, but a scratch on the break was Van Boening's undoing as Archer ran out the final rack to remain undefeated.

Archer will face Stan Tourangeau in his next match, while Van Boening has a match with Jordan Rothermel on the one loss side. Other winner's side matches are Alex Pagulayan vs Erik Hjorliefson, Alain Martel vs Jason Klatt and Luc Salvas vs Dennis Orcollo.

Brackets are updated with all match results and will be updated until a winner is crowned this weekend.

I guess I would have won the dough if I got ANY games on the wire. Hardly an "azzzzz waxing". ;)

ha ha..no game on the wire for you..;) but i see mr archer went on to do his thing.. I am impressed to see it went so close...I am a big Archer fan since i live in Va and he used to live in N.C. i would go to brass tap some times and get the chance to see him. He has lost some of that "drive" that you were talking about..but i think life, marriage and already being a rich man pulls your desire from it a bit..however with Earl the Pearl getting in the hall of fame..i think the desire to prove that he belongs there as well will hit Johhny and we will start to see his name at the top of some rankings here pretty soon.
