I'm assuming this will be held the last week of April this year. Does anyone know the official dates?

For those who've never attended, this is one of the nicest tournaments I've been to. Great players, nice relaxed environment, terrific competition and a fine cause. It's my favorite tournament to attend.

Subscribed to thread.

I would really like to come to this. I'm only 3 hours away and have never been. I didn't realize it is so close.

Got my hotel reservations made tonight and confirmed. I will be there to watch all 3 days. I'll bring the sticks "just in case" <grin.>

Any updated sites with a list of who will be playing this year?

Roy I think that you will be in for a couple of nice surprise's, first the tournament is great and moves fast. And second I think you can drive there from Bristol in about 1 1/2 hours.--Leonard

Thanks Leonard. I appreciate the heads up on the drive.

My wife asked me this morning if I had reserved a King sized bed at the Hotel. I told her yes..and why? She actually plans to go with me. I've been married to this woman for 20 years and she has NEVER went with me on something like this. I told her I was happy but didn't expect she would want to go. She told me she wanted to go because I wanted to go =)

I bet'cha she's looking for a new shopping place <grin.> Really looking forward to the weekend.

Hey Roy the Harrah's casino is pretty close if she gets bored and you might want to bring some warm coats, a few years ago I took a friend and he froze all day long. You know about that mountain air I'm sure but sometime they open up the doors on one end and it gets real chilly.--Leonard

Its a great tourney and fills up early every year. If you want to go shopping, head to main street Waynesville and go to Twigs and Leaves art gallery and buy one (or more) of my unique wooden lamps or candle holders (shameless plug).

Thanks for the insight for the coats Leonard. Good idea  Shameless plugs are always welcome Jcat ;)

I think I am going to bring the sticks in the violin case. If you guys see me, come on over and say hi :)

in past years we have been anywhere from in the 40's to in the 80's during the tourney, so come prepared for any of that.

is there a waiting list? who runs this?

If you don't have your entry in by the middle of march you are probably on the waiting list.

This tournament is an anomaly, they take a good portion of the entry for a benefit and they fill every year weeks before the tournament begins. While most tournaments try to add money to get people to attend and barely draw 30-60 players, this event is full every year with a waiting list.

Not only is it a benefit that takes money from the fund it is played at the fairgrounds in a building with concrete floors and no alcohol or smoking. I haven't quite figured out why this tournament does so well every year but I am glad it does. I am also glad I have been able to attend for the past few years.

Gary and crew do a great job putting this on every year and it is for a great cause, I hope it continues to prosper and I will be there as long as I am able.

The tournament has been filled since March 14th and 25 + on the waiting list. The women's tournament is also full. Friday morning at 10 am. the women will start with an auction prior. The men's auction will start at 8 pm sharp with 3 rounds or more following. There will be some vendors there selling their products, I will be doing cue repair and selling cues. There is good food and plenty of seats to watch. Some of the great players participating will be Stevie Moore, Larry Nevel, Brian White, Scott Rabon all previous winners and 124 other players ready to dethrone the super stars.
