I am certainly not a very good writer but wanted to let everyone know about the tourney this weekend.

I arrived just before the calcutta as I was on vacation last week. My wife's family lives in Poplar bluff so had a great place to stay close by and my family actually with me for once on a pool trip. My normal running buddy IBA7467 / Daniell Hill wasn't there with me but was there in spirit and his money was there. We went with the intention of buying Shane or at least attempting. 4k wasn't enough. Some big money was in the room from Texas I believe. I have ran into him and some others in Louisiana a couple times. Shane went for $6500 I think all though I have heard he may have gone for 7k. I would have been reserved to pay that much as I didn't think the whole calcutta would produce enough to make it a good money odds bet. I was wrong.

Rodney 4k, Skyler 3500, then a bunch of guys at 3k- Bergman, Winters, Deuel, Kiamco. I ended up buying Archer for $2500. I was pretty happy about it. Adam SMith went the cheapest at about $400. All in all I think 35k in it.

All the matches were awesome to watch. So tough to try and watch every table but the place is pretty intimate and comparable to White Diamond. Except most of the spectators are in on place overlooking all of the tables. My favorite part was watching the huge comebacks. John Morra was down 10-1 after a great display by CD. Then he won 10 Ithink right back. CD started checking every rack. Only person I saw do that. It was RYO with no touching balls after the rack. Bergman was way down to Chip and ran a couple good packages to get back and win. Johnny ran 5 to close one out. Chad Vilmont was a pretty big surprise to me winning some tough matches and I think he ran a 5 to close out Olinger.I think Kiamco won the most racks $500 at a 6 pack. I think he put that on CD for 3/4th. Saez almost took SVB out. He was on the hill and missed a ball. Shane tied it up and broke dry. Saez missed a 3 in the side. Nerves I would guess. Skyler was so composed while beating Shane twice. Unbelievable. How much would anyone bet that would happen. Skyler also had to deal some bs from one of his favorite people to play. I don't care to elaborate here.

Mikey Mckewin if you don't know him is doing a lot of great things for pool and a is a great host. His staff did an awesome job also. Good food, cheap drinks, great service. It was fun sitting around the bar with the champs. Most of them conversed with the crowd and were friendly as heck. Rodney was cool as hell again, Adam Smith was a really nice guy. Didn't know much about him other than the 31 point Bonus Ball run I saw him shoot. It was fun to talk with him. Sounds pretty smart and loves to talk about the sciences of pool.

Had a great time with a couple guys from Memphis and Arkansas DD and Ernest. My wife isn't a pool fan but came down both nights and had some drinks with us. Some good friends from Hillsboro there as well.

I only heard about a few sets being played for 5k and 4k. Alex and JB winning. Overall I lost quite a bit but probably one of my favorite tournaments I have been to. Mikey announced the next one in December. 15th I believe and he said Shaw and Butista coming.

Brendan.
Very nicely written and well composed. Thanks for the eye witness report from your perspective. With this pack of slayers, every horse bought in the auction was a long-shot figuratively speaking.
