Snakewood & Ivory Propeller Owens Cue

Here is a beautiful example of Bob Owens' work. What a nice combination of materials. The veneers really bring it all together for me. The shafts are pretty much beasts and it hits like a very high end cue, very effortless. I just installed the new leather wrap on it as well.

Nice! :)

I dig the cue.

From all that I have read snakewood is notoriously evil to use, hence a cuemaker has got to know what he is doing with that wood...and even then it can break your heart. :eek:

Thanks for showing off! :thumbup::thumbup:

That is VERY true. One of the simplest, yet very difficult cues to make is a snakewood true merry widow...

Gotta give Bob "props" for that nice looking flamey veneer cue!:grin-square:

You wanna know why I like bob Owen cues

take a look

couple that with a cue that plays so good,Jeremy Jones pays for his rather
than get a free one from some one seeking publicity

^^^^^ There may be some disagreement but, a Widow has no points,and a Plain Jane has points,but no veneers.I think,lol

Gosh, everyone has gotten it wrong so far.

A merry widow is a lady that's the sole beneficiary on her husband's multi-million dollar life insurance policy
and rest assured, that broad is happy than a pool player that owns dueling Szamboti cues, one in each hand.

A merry widow is one solid piece of wood, with or without a wrap. A plain jane has a A-joint of some kind.

That's the way I see it, though others see it differently.

The term Merry Widow has been around a long time and meant that for a long time AFAIK. Plane Jane is, I think, a substantially younger term.
