Just got back home to Tucson.

It was a hell of a week! Capped off by getting caught in the Interstate 5 closure (Brushfire) in California. Stuck in bumper to bumper on the freeway, than diverted back north!! All in all, about a 4 hr delay...and an extra 100 miles.

Got some great shots...just e mailed them to Mike. I'm sure he'll be getting them uploaded pretty soon.

Here are two of my favorites....

MANY more to come....

those are beautiful photos. You were not allowed to use a flash, right?

Right, no flash allowed.

Actually the originals look much better. These images are reduced to minimum quality for posting on the web.

Two beautiful women! I think Ewa should change from the 'Striking Viking' to STUNNING. She actually likes it too, and asked for copies. Of course I had my copy autographed....

Thanks for all the years Ewa! You still look GREAT......(Mitch....your a very lucky guy!)

I tried taking some photos without a flash at the Vegas IPT event, but they turned out horrible. What is the secret to getting some nice photos without a flash?

NO secret.......

BIG Bucks....

Is the one and only answer.

First you MUST have a good camera...DSLR is highly recommended. Point and shoots won't cut it most of the time.

Lens....you must have a lens capable of gathering low light efficently, preferably a zoom.

Hold STILL....I use a monopod to help steady the camera. When your using a lens as described above....they are usually BIG and heavy.

It's truly a fight at every event, to get everything working together. The lighting sucks most of the time. The light sources change all the time...and you have to compensate for it. Incandescent, flouresent....if you don't watch out...you'll have all yellow (or some other color) images.

That is where Photoshop comes in...changing hues, saturation levels, and on and on.

So, don't feel so bad about blurry images...it's a normal occurence even with the equipment I described sometimes.

The camera bodies alone can run up to 10,000.00

It's not easy, nor cheap.

Thanks for the info Rick. This is what I figured. I think when I am at the next event, I'll just enjoy the matches, and leave the great photo-taking up to you!

Ewa is a beautiful woman, inside and out. That was a beautiful top worn over pants. She always has impeccable taste.

Rick, I'm far from being an expert, but I would think the RAW format might make a huge difference as well.

what did you use?

At this tourny I used shot both RAW, and Hi JPEG. I'm using Nikon, which creates NEF Raw files. Nikon and Photoshop didn't get along there for a while, with Nikon not giving the PS people access to their NEF file system.

Finally they did.

Your right, shooting RAW can really reduce your workflow in particular circumstances. It really depends on what your going to do with them afterwards.

Good call!
