Spend a lot of time driving today and since I was in the neighborhood, I thought I'd check out some of the places that disappeared of rethunk's list.

Chap Chap (former snooker corner) is now called Cheetah Lounge they definitely have a 12' but not the three that they used to have. Not sure what happened to the other two.

Red & White Snooker is now called Riveras Sports Bar & Pool hall (yep that's how it's spelled) They were still closed when I came by and all the windows are blinded out, so I could only peek in a little bit and they definitely have pool tables. Couldn't confirm the snooker table.

Sorry Rethunk, I couldn't get their phone numbers.

Thanks very much for posting the info, drsnooker. I think I'll be ready for a website update tomorrow. I'll get the phone numbers when/if I can.

By the way, I have Alan Morris's old list of pool halls with snooker tables, and it's a HUGE list. After I cross-check the listings with mine I think there'll be a few dozen I don't have. For example, he has a listing for Hawaii and I don't have any.

A room up on the northwest side is going out of business. Both tables are for sale on the craiglist.

A guy in Louisiana is going to sale me a 5x10 brunswick. The guy only wants 250 dollars for it. It has been on the second story of his house for about 5 years.

It might be a while but you will be able to add me to the list. I will have to expand my game room to fit it in.

Can't wait.

Do you know which room that is?

That sounds like a great deal. I look forward to adding your table to the list.

You should get the on those tables from NW Houston and get a full size one in stead of a hobbit snooker table.

The thing is the hobbit table is on 250 and they want 2500 for those. The other issue is space. I would have to add 2 more feet to my garage to fit one in. If this table is 12 feet and i am not quite sure yet, I will have to come up with a plan.

Chapions Snooker in Houston NW

Dr, Have you been to new snooker club AKA Chapions Snooker in NW of Houston or do you have any information about there setup?

Was there last weekend and last night. Will be there again today for the US snooker tour event.

They got two BCE steelblock tables. A third is coming from Canada. They're kinda in the process of getting set up. So I'd wait a little bit before going out there to play.

Where are you located?

Nice area to play. They got two BEC snooker tables, but place is a joke.

“Poor environment, Management is clueless”

2011 snooker tournament main event has started on Friday May 27th. I was expecting a nice professional environments but I was so annoyed when some customers started playing slot machines during the game. Man... those bells can drive you crazy, did to me.
The funny part was the entrance door chime, which went off at-least 100 times during the game creating a nice stereo effect among the two, "chime and slot machine."

I was about to snap but someone from the audience, player, beat me to it and saved me from agony. He got very upset and asked the house to stop this nonsense in a calm and rational manner but to no avail. Everyone just seemed to completely ignore the gentlemen as if his concern wasn't a matter of importance, which after a few short minutes caused the gentlemen to lose his calm state and become more aggressively loud but he at least waited until the end of the game. The gentlemen and the loud noisy audience took their discussion outside, which was more of a yelling back and forth than any real conversation. But at the very least, the players were allowed to focus on their match with all the noise outside, you know the MATCH for the tournament that all the people were there for in the first place. Later on during the night, I noticed people were walking out because the tournament rules were being altered. The tournament was already half way through and your going to alter the rules? The alterations of rules during a phase of the tournament is unethical and unfair towards the players in the tournament still and to those who already knocked out because now these new rules should have applied to them as well. Another example of how unprofessional run this tournament was, this alteration resulted in three to four players withdrawing from the tournament. Furthermore, another player referred to the tournament as "a joke" as he brashly walked out from the event.

I would like to pull an example from any pool or snooker tournament broad-casted on TV or held, if you will take notice the audience are always in complete dead silence. The game requires focus and concentration when playing, you cant run a tournament in the middle of a circus. The slot machines shouldn't be on they just add to the noise and distraction, leaving them on just for money when your hosting a tournament is just not professional. The event should be treated in a professional manner and respected by everyone attending the tournament. I would hope they have learned something from this experience and next time we will use a professional atmosphere during the tournament and it will be setup to the standard guidelines of snookerusa.com which requires 3 snooker tables for any tournament, although this place only has two but misreported they had three, and a professional crowd.
