I did a little research, but i've found mostly race to 1, bar rules or expensive (over $20) buy-ins... I prefer 8 ball, BIH (non any pocket asshole (APA)rules), bar box (but i'll deal with the big track if i have to), race to 3 in the winners, and i'm a C/low B player here in michigan, i'd rather not buy into a tournament just to go two and out without warning, since i'll be getting dropped off there. so if it's full of big dogs, at least let me know lol. Any suggestions? two or more suggestions would be even better, because i'm not really sure what nights i'll have free yet.

not to many bar box tournies around but a tough tourney at On Cue in La Mesa on Mondays at 8 , there is a 9 ball on wed at 8 at High Society in Temecula at 8, there is a 8 ball tourney on thur at 8 at High Society in Temecula if they get enough players, those are all on 9 ft'ers

if you need more info feel free to send me a pm, I am sure there are tourneys at College Billiards also

oncue's like 45 min away though. i only know of one room in oceanside and i don't remember it being anything special. mostly 9 ftrs with what looked like a decent weekly tournament judging from the tournament bracket they had up

Oceanside billiards is closed I believe.
You might find dive bar tournament at the Rusty spur, whiskey bills or OMTI.
A little south they use to have a pretty good tues night 8-ball at the Leucadian,
Pacific Cue in Encinitas will have something going on.
Good Luck wherever you end up.

They used to have a bar tournament every Monday night down at Pacific Beach Bar and Grill. Pacific Beach is like over a half hour away from where you are. It is worth the trip alone for the eye candy down there on Garnett street.

You should be able to find a barbox 8-ball tourney ANY night of the week in the metro San Diego area. In fact, on most nights, you can have your pick of which to play.

Most are $5 to $10 entry, single game races, Double elimination. BIH, call pocket/call shot vary. Most start between 7pm and 9pm. There's a pretty regular crowd of C and B shooters that make the circuit during the week. You'll get to know everyone's face after a couple weeks. Toby, Ski, Grasshopper, Marco, Jimmy, Ramon, Chimo, Raul, are all the usual suspects.

Here is link with a few of the tourneys:

Otherwise, check the "bar advertisements" in the SD Reader. They usually list a "pool" night.

I'm going to rattle off a few bars off the top of my head. It's been 18 months since I lived in SD, so it's up to you to confirm these are still going.

Lancers, University Heights, Sunday. (I used to run it. Tell 'em Ed sent you!)
In Cahoots, Mission Valley, Sunday.
Stadium Club, Mission Valley, Monday.
Tiny's, Ocean Beach, Mon.
Camel's Breath, Grantville, Wed.
In Cahoots, Mission Valley, Thurs.

Plus,
On Cue, College Billiards, Pal Joey's, Channel One, Janey's, Renegades, the Library, Lou Jones Inn, Leucadian, Silver Fox, the Alibi, Hungry Stick.

Good luck.

Family billiards closed...

There isn't really any POOL halls in oceanside since family billiards closed down.

Spanky's right although sometimes at high society they have the eightball on barboxes on Thursdays when daniel gets a wild hair and adds money to the pot...lol...

You'll have some good players and a somewhat fair spot if you make your way to high society. I'll be there tonight.

Jaden- Thot you had 'gone fishing'. Tried Diamond Valley? As difficult as it is, try to leave those nesting females alone on the beds, and just pick off the small guarding males. Sight fishing is fun in the spring. Better than fishing at 60 feet.

Take care
