So sad, Superstar is no longer a unique little butterfly with his video.
Want a tissue Superstar?
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not after a profit for anyone's work. I was merely trying to make it possible for others that may have wanted to view these games. Maybe I should buy a spindle of 100 dvds and make a copy for everyone on the forum..... Free! Your copy will be $20!![]()
It's a recording from TV of a 20 year old match. The owner of the footage is ESPN. Someone buy it and put it up on YouTube so we can all finally see it and get it out of our system. Jeeze we have less controversy over superstar athletes who commit crimes.
FWIW YouTube is 15min unless you don't have a cap and then it's unlimited. I think all you have to do is ask for the cap to be lifted.
Hello billiard nuts,
I just wanted to chime in here, since I am the eBay seller of the controversial CoC DVD in which Mike LeBron, against the super-genius Vegas bookmakers, rose to the occasion.
I was out of town for a few days with limited internet access and when I came back I was intrigued to see that one of my auctions had close to 300 views and 21 watchers, while the other 23 auctions had single digit numbers.
I knew something was brewing, but had no idea what so I figured I would check out the AZ forums and, Blammo!...I stumble upon this thread.
Firstly, I am really surprised to see a DVD that I have listed for over 8 months for $13.49 / $2.30 shipping sell for over $40. It has been up for almost a year and I have sold exactly 2 of them in the last 8 months. It is a little ridiculous actually and I contacted the winning bidder a couple days ago and told him I would throw in a few more DVDs to even his generosity out.
Secondly, I wanted to address a few things that were brought up. I do not sell current DVDs or accu-stats matches. I will admit I have in the past (30-40 DVDs) but quickly realized it was not a good thing and simply never did again. I do sell one current DVD, the Danny DiLiberto DVD...The reason I sell it is because I made it. Danny and I filmed it in my house and Pat Fleming gave us permission to use some of the footage on it.
The pool bug bit me at an early age and it has been in my blood ever since. I am just a cue sports fan in general and have really tuned into 3-Cushion the last 7-8 years. I have been collecting matches for a long time. Selling DVDs was not something I intended to do at the start. I just bought, traded and collected as many as I could over the years to feed the desire for knowledge. I have quite an extensive collection covering all disciplines. In one of my auctions, I sell 27 DVDs for $170. It takes close to 5 hours to babysit and burn/print 27 DVDs at 8X speed which is the speed I use because it cuts down on errors. Factor in the cost for the ink and quality Taiyo Yuden media, and I am certainly not getting rich doing this. I do it to make rarer stuff available, make enough to cover supplies, and the rest goes into my 3 year old daughter's savings.
Thirdly, to the guy who said the first thing he was going to do when he won the auction was put the matches on YouTube....he then said "I kind of feel bad about doing it"....Listen, don't feel bad...it's almost 2013, the Mayans were wrong, and we are lucky to be alive and kicking during the infancy of the information age. I am a huge computer nerd so I am all for it. I only wish you refrain from putting the Danny D DVD on there as he gets profits from this one.
I received several messages via eBays system asking about the quality of the DVDs. Believe it or not, they still make a $400 VCR! I have this VCR and what makes it so special is it has a frame buffer which digitizes the picture internally and removes noise/snow as well as stabilizes the picture. I also have an external TBC which costs more than the VCR. This Time Base Corrector ensures that audio and video stay in synch no matter how bad of condition a VHS tape is in. I capture, edit and author the DVDs on my computer. I create full pool themed menus and put in chapter stops for easy scanning. I am OCD'ish about quality and I would have never even started converting and digitizing my entire collection unless I could do it right and end up with satisfactory results.
Like I mentioned earlier, I offer this DVD on eBay for $13.49 with $2.30 shipping.
If any other AZ'ers want one, I will ship one to you for 10 bucks.
simply contact me at netwrkz2000 at hotmail . com
Thanks!

Oh, and BTW....if any of you wanna gamble, I will throw this out there...
I will play anyone on this planet 3 sets....Race to 15 9-ball, Race to 6 one pocket, and a 3-Cushion game to 50....and I am completely serious..there is no action in my town and I am itching to play..you have my email.
Its absolute nonsence that these players at this event killed the sport.
If there was no dump then, and the Vegas bookies were happy and would have continued to book pool events... Eventually nearly every pro would have been dumping the Vegas book. Players will dump their backer for a $500 score. You guys really think there was EVER a chance of not dumping some Vegas bookies the pros didnt even personally know? Really???
In this case and cases like it.... I guess pool needs more Earls
Rather deal with an honest azz hole with integrity than a nice guy with no integrity. This is a great thread
I have/had no intention of uploading or copying it for you or the masses.
No big deal there.
It's not my problem. Never was.

Don't see the challenge of champions on that list.
Just the 1991 International 9-Ball Classic.
Believe it or not, You Tube removed my account once for uploading copywrited material. I'm not talking about current movies or anything like that either. It was parts of a 35 year old episode of The Midnight Special. Some food for thought...
I totally believe it. It's against YouTube's rules and they also now have pretty sophisticated software running that matches copyrighted content to the videos on their servers. It basically takes the digital imprint that the original has and compares it like a fingerprint to the content on their servers and if there is enough of a match it's flagged and the content owner can decide what to do. I don't know that YT removes accounts now for one violation but they might.
My only point is that the likelihood of this being flagged and targeted is low given that the subject is a pool event from 20 years ago and recorded from TV. As well there are plenty of other sites to upload to besides YouTube.
This is just me but as far as I am concerned any sort of sporting event like this that is this old is fair game to be distributed among the people. I know it's technically wrong, it's technically ESPN's property or the promoter's etc....but as far as I am concerned it's ancient history at this point and the value to the fans is simply for discussion not particularly for entertainment or PPV. Even if not uploaded to YT the sales will be what maybe 20 copies on the high side for the curious who just HAVE to see it and for whom $10 is paltry to satisfy that curiosity.
And for this particular video it's kind of like Wikileaks at this point, information wants to be FREED!
And for the haters, don't try to use this statement later as if I am justifying theft. This is a no harm, no foul situation except maybe for the guys involved who probably don't want to see the video splashed up on the web with their names attached to it. But the way I see it is that we should get out in the open and everyone can deal with it and we can move on. If the guys involved want to address it and give their side then we fans would love to hear it.
Frankly, I am no less of a fan of Buddy and Nick or any of the other players because of it. What they did was wrong but as far as I am concerned they have given up a lot of blood for our entertainment since then. So I am totally willing to forgive them and certainly don't hold them accountable for the rise or fall of pool in the time since.
Which did not stop you from crying about a guy distributing copies of the video for nothing more then the packaging, shipping, and perhaps the smallest bit for his time.
Yeah, until someone tries to copy a case of yours from 20 years ago. Then let's hear what you have to say. After all, " It's ancient history at this point".
The other thing I find funny about all this is apparently how BAD these guys were at dumping. These are supposed to be the old guard road warriors who know all the moves. But it seems that it was so painfully obvious that Helen Keller could see it.
