I don't think Orcullo will be rooting for Manalo...LOL. If Manalo won yesterday's match against Hohmann, in all likelihood we'll be seeing Dennis in the final.

Man, too tough to call. Hohmann definitely has the momentum going into the finals. Not only did he beat Manalo twice this tournament, but he beat all 3 Filipinos yesterday! Not too shabby.

Hohmann has also been on the final stage versus a Filipino. He beat Pagulayan in the finals of the 2003 WPC when he was a virtual unknown. So Hohmann truly has been here before.

I like Hohmann a lot. He's a true gentleman, and a great asset to this sport. But, I'm rooting for Manalo...and I believe Marlon will win.

Hohmanns had his number so far,however, the prize stakes at $350,000 have increased substancially.The Filipnos know what to do when playing for the cash.

I'm curious, are you insinuating that the Filipino players might get together in the stands and attempt some psychological warfare on their countryman's opponent? I would love for JAM, Linda, Colin and any of the other AZers to report what they see in this area.

FTR, iN a pool I picked Thorsten as my work horse.

I know it so far has been a great tournament and as exciting a tournament as I have ever heard of. Just sorry I wasn't there to be a part of it or at least spectating.

The IPT eclipses anything anyone has even attempted to do in pool, let alone accomplish.

Sorry, it is Manalo all the way. He did not play his best against Thorsten last round.

It is truly going to go to the best breaker. Orcullo in his last match broke dry every time!!!! He may be the best Filipino player, but has the worst break of all of them.

I was watching Marlon on the Texas Holdem this morening on ESPN classic, and a little ding ding ding went off in my head. Not his stance, but just his stroke, and the way he hits the ball, reminds me of Willie Mosconi, only Marlon's stroke is just a little longer, but the delivery and his shape playing remind me of Mosconi.

It will be an allout offensive war today, and I think both players will probably be there early to practice breaking, as it could be a $251,000
difference. I would also be practicing my 'lag' .... lol

LOL, I doubt that will happen over there for sure.Also judging by some of the other threads posted on AZ the Philipino contingent is not that close nit and there are some divisions amongst the players.I imagine that some will sit together and others will be scattered about within the stands.Thorsten will be much to focused to even notice them.

I once played in a local Sunday tournament here against a Filipino friend.There were at least 6 of his Filipino friends standing around the table watching and for me I found it a little intimidating.They were all cheering on their friend. They are a very close knit bunch here in Vancouver and tended to stick together in a group. I guess my memories of my own personal experience was the reason for including that opening statement in my post.I was kind of thinking all Filipinos are close knit,however, I guess that's not the case.

wow the poll's divided 50-50. i guess that's an indication of how close the finals will be (was) and how evenly matched these two players are. and the final score showed it. congrats to hohmann and congrats to manalo. 2nd place ain't too shabby.

i was rooting for manalo but i voted for hohmann in the poll because i think manalo still has a ways to go.....
