So you Think you Know Billiard Movies

I have the first three seasons of Have Gun, Will Travel. I'm about halfway through them, and haven't seen that episode.

Mick,
Did you finish the viewing of the Have Gun, Will Travel episodes and did you see the movie I am looking for?
thanks,
JoeyA

JAM...There was a really upscale poolhall in Concord, NC (just north of Charlotte), about 10 yrs ago. Helena Thornfelt was the house pro. The owner(s) had a LOT of those Italian TCOM posters (I was told 100+), including the one you're looking for. They were all framed, and hung on the wall. Since the room is closed, you might be able to buy one of those posters. I met one of the owners once, and Helena showed me around the place, but I can't remember names. I'm sure you can find out who it is.
Good luck!

I'd love to get my hands on an untouched, unfolded, pristine copy of this poster. :)

I have an original American version of the TCOM poster when the movie hit the streets in 1986, framed and preserved.

bestpoolplayer...It is well known that Jackie Gleason was a better than average poolplayer. In the 50's & 60's Gleason was, at best, a 50 ball runner in 14.1 (which is certainly respectable). Back in those days (like now) the good players could/can run hundreds.

I have watched the Pool Hall Junkie it is a alright movie.
Did anyopne know that the late Jackie Gleason liked to play pool?
One of his shows was about him playing a game with another person.
It was really interesting to watch

There is an interesting Shtick on the Honey Mooners where Jackie Gleason and Norton are Playing pool when in comes Haarrvey. I know I have seen a You Tube of it. In real life Jackie Gleason was a pretty good player. He and Willie were good friends. I saw a cue that Willie gave to Jackie for sale on the internet. One of the best stories you will ever read is the first time Jackie met Willie ( Jackie I would like you to meet Willie, Willie Mosconi ), I think it happened at Cranfield's in New York.

I think I read that encounter in one of R.A Dyer's biographies. Toots Shor used Willie to play a trick on Jackie Gleason.

This is common knowledge among pool players. Gleason did most of his own shots in The Hustler. He was known as a pretty fair player around New York at the time.
PHJ sucked, big time.

In Pool Hall Junkies, didn't Mars Callahan make his own shots? To the makers of the next pool movie, what do you hate about PHJ, so Hollywood can avoid making the same mistakes.

Stickmen has its moments i wouldnt say it's a great film or good film. I always wanted to watch Chalk. I hear Carambola a Mexican filmed 3-cushion Billiards is an ok movie.

Turn the River showed up in my Netflix Instant and while I knew it wasn't going to be great, the allure of Famke made me watch it. Don't make the same mistake. :sorry:

One of my stalkers accosted me on Facebook and said that in the 60's a lot of people were not themselves during that era and insinuated that maybe this movie of the cowboys playing eight ball on horseback on television never really happened. :D

i thought in a past post someone said it was a gunsmoke episode.i also think it's been on in the past couple month's.

I didn't read that.

I'm still looking. I sure would like to see it before I cash in my chips. It will probably be a bit like going back to the house you grew up in 30 years later. It's just not the same.
