hello everyone, recently i am looking for purchasing a nice custom cue. Because i am still a student, i can afford under $1000 and i have narrowed it to some brand: carolina, dale perry, and balabushka(not original), because of my limited knowledge, i hope someone can give me more suggestions
also, because i am an international student in Canada, i just know few website that sell cues like billiardwarehouse and cuestore.ca, who can give me more information.

thanks

In your price range some cuemakers to consider. MasonH (username here), Doug Patrick (posted on this thread), Bob Dzuricky www.dzcues.com very under rated, delivers on time, does what he says, rhcue (username here) Dick Neighbors, might be able to get a low end Mike Webb cue, carolina cues, and a host of others. Joeyincali is another cuemaker that I really like, actually have one on order right now. He has a raffle right now for a GREAT cause on a conversion cue. One spot left, and its only 10 people.

If it was my first cue I'd probably pick up a sneaky or plain jane from one of them to try out. Hard to get hurt in the lower end cues from quality makers, can usually get your money back out of them if you don't like it or at least most of your money.

I'll add a few to the list...
To order custom w/ modest lead times:
Ryan Theewen - ratcues
Lee Peppers - LP Custom Cues

There are many excellent cues in that range on the WFS section every day - just depends on how "fancy" you want it. For way under $1k you can get a used Jeff Olney cue that'll have about as good a build quality & hit as is on the planet. All of the names mentioned are well thought of. I can personally vouch for Jeff, Ryan, Lee, and Doug.
cubswin's advice on sticking with "substance" over frill as you try various respected cue names is very sound.
tommy1351 should be an excellent resource for you. He is very well thought of on AZ.
