Having recorded several matches from 14.1 division (unfortunately I missed two first days of it and started my own recordings just on the final day from the quarterfinals), I'm in the process of converting them to a suitable format. Here we have two matches I got from a friend who was experimenting with screen capturing software on EPC stream. Recording it took some effort so screen capture seemed the only way to go back then. I converted them and uploaded to Veoh. Please note that since they are nothing more than a series а screenshots these videos have no sound.

Sandor Tot vs Jan Hoffmann - that's just the very last part of the match

Martin Kempter vs Konstantin Stepanov - that's a very interesting game really, Kempter scores 72 and 29 until he misses only 24 points from victory, that's where the video starts. Stepanov runs 99 and out. (He is the player you might have remembered from the 14.1 Worlds)

I will share more matches when they are ready. I just don't know if I should upload them all to Veoh for you to watch or to a file sharing server packed in archives for download.
 
are the streamed videos in flash video format (.flv), if you do a search for .flv downloader or something relative, they have software to download the stream. from there you could just convert it. from what i have seen of the programs you just put in the addresss of the video and just hit go, and it does the rest.

i am not sure of the legality of this though !

thanks for advice Steve. Usually flash streams are in Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) and flv downloaders of all kinds have trouble dealing with them. I didn't like screen capturing idea (though it proved to be better than nothing) and managed to find a solution with invaluable help from other forum members. Like I said I'm in the process of converting matches I recorded and will share them when ready.
I hope this thread becomes a place to discuss the games featured.

I will have to find the time to watch them. (I haven't watched Sascha's 71 yet and Bill put another big one up today. I'm busy Easter and going on vacation Tuesday, so I will have plenty of backlogged 14.1 to look forward to. :D)

I never thought I would say that but nowadays we are so lucky to be able to get all these high runs here on AZB to watch, and discuss. Live streams from SBE. filmed runs from Derby and SBE. Accustats matches.Wow!
 
a short clip of a very brave opening break shot by Mario He from Austria. I wonder if he practiced this shot on this very table before the match. I have seen and executed the opening shot from "The Baltimore Bullet" movie, but this one made my jaw drop. That was a quarterfinal by the way! Well, Mario lost eventually, Huidje See was too strong for him in that game.
 
I got 14.1 part of the tournament ready. Files are uploaded to Demonoid torrent tracker, as I don't see other convenient means to deliver them to you. The files preserve initial quality of the stream and are supplied with scoring. I might try converting them in order to upload for online viewers (Veoh site) but at the moment I don't have time to deal with that. And it might not work as intended. So I highly recommend you get the files instead of just watching them online, even if the latter option becomes available. On Demonoid, search for "2010 EPC", that should get you the file list of matches (quarterfinals, semis and finals).

women division - Katrine Jensen, Jasmin Ouschan, Kynthia Orfanidis, Gerda Hofstatter
men division - David Alcaide, John Blacklaw, Konstantin Stepanov, Artyom Koshevoy, Andreas Roschkowsky, Nick van den Berg, Mario He, Huidji See.

Artyom Koshevoy v. Hudji See

So far, this is the only one I have looked at. The kid, Artyom, shoots straight but goes into the balls a lot. Sometimes with no insurance. I am not done with it yet. Hudji just started shooting and his patterns so far are better.

Is anybody looking at these. Great stuff!
 
Huidji See must be more experienced straight pool player, after all he once was a 14.1 Worlds runner-up

Of Course, Huidji is a very good player and a pretty nice guy. I chatted with him a little at the Derby Straight Pool Challenge in 2009. His opponent in this particular match is a very young player who can't have been playing 14.1 that long, given his age.

Once I converted them, I lost so much quality. So now I just downloaded the VLC player to my laptop and copied the files there and the sound and video quality are excellent! Commentary on a few of them so far, too.

yep, h.264 codec is a tricky thing, when you try to convert it quality loss is inevitable and, as a rule, unacceptable. At the same time h.264 itself provides great bitrate and relatively small file size.
I recommend you use MPCHC instead of VLC - just because of the scoring subs, they are so much better-looking than those for VLC!

If you can get the torrent uploaded to any other tracker, it's possible to use demonoid's tracker without having registered there. So you could upload it to sumotorrent or something, and people who download that torrent will be using demonoid's tracker and getting files from those who are sharing... even if nobody is sharing from sumotorrent.

H264 is the best thing out there. I got a 14 dvd (56 GB) set mashed down to 4ish GB with very sharp quality (no problem seeing which balls are which etc).

If you would like to watch the EPC videos click HERE. In less than 10 seconds you should get a text file with links and instructions. There is such a thing in BitTorrent protocol as magnet links. Using them allow you to download the file from anywhere it is seeded. I uploaded the files so that to create such magnet links. All you need to download is get a torrent client which can handle magnet links, I recommend uTorrent.
In uTorrent, go to File-Add torrent from URL, copy the link from the text file and start the torrent. That's it.
