Is it me or are the same questions being asked over and over again.
Think we need a sticky on how to use the SEARCH function.

I thought it was just me too I was thinking of answering questions with either picture and no words or a copy and paste of the search page. Somebody already broke the easy button

I don't want to sound crazy here ....but it was very difficult to search around to find exactly what I needed to know ....

there is an element around here that has secrets they don't want to share all in one place ....I had basically read every single post by everyone who is relevant on this forum and that is how I found the information....

the "secrets" are all there ...but it took me forever to find them and had to wade through a lot of argument.

if you posted sticky ...these key things I think the problems would not arise with repost

how to stretch simonis cloth bed - sticky
how to glue cloth - sticky
how to finish pockets - sticky
how to cover rails with simonis - sticky
how to finish facings - sticky
how to apply new rubber - sticky
how to properly make sub rail extensions -sticky
what tools/products will you need - sticky

step by step with pictures ....and obviously there is more than one way to do all this ....but all of the experienced mechanics could post their individual ways in each sticky thread.....

just a thought ...

A noble one indeed.

However I don't believe one can expect the pro's to to freely dole out "secrets". This is their income source.

I've read this forum for several years, only recently posting. I've found many valuable hints and tips. Opinions are offered freely, step by step manuals and procedures not so "freely", and rightfuly so. IMO.

That is a great post. I don't mind helping anyone. But giving a detailed explanation on all the material listed in that post is to much. I have received calls from members on this forum and have explained how to do numerous jobs over the years. Thank you DrT for posting.

And everyone has been great here and pm'd me with the info I wanted ...but I just am saying that people will continue to ask this info.....so if you will keep the secrets then that is fine....but be prepared for repeats...

I am a veterinarian.... and I guess the info I have is worth money ....but I would give it to anyone that asked ...not that just anyone would know what to do with it ....

and i guess that's the point ....having info is one thing ...but having the talent to put that info into a finished product is something else...I am sure everyone's job will be intact ...i've told people what I am doing with my table and they are just like ...why wouldn't you just pay someone to do that.....it's just not how I work ...

If. We did make stickies it would be great in a lot of ways for finding basic info. Let's make 5 stickies on gc 1,2,3,4,5 on the good and bad of each model backed by pictures this would help end a lot of questions but create 90,000 experts on how to fix gcs good or bad. Let's do it for all tables around page five we could start are normal forum again and have not that much to talk about. The internet google yahoo and unpertected territory has changed the way we do business. Everyone is cutting prices so now one buys localy .
If glen never challenged us or showed us his method we would still trying weird things are doing industry standard work as we thought was right. Diamond would never have made the last three changes the have made last one being the biggest. Gold crown would still be king and diamond tables would be like a 64 cobra hot a rare if glen didn't deliver them to hard to flat stack for shipping.

We are trying to be more friendly on here again I think instead of posingalot of answer maybe pms might be the what to go for less public domains to cut down on the hacks that we are actually trying keep from giving them secrets instaed of table owners wanting to know more about how to fix what they have.
Hard to type on droid phone hope it makes sense.

Strangely enough I understood that Craig! But I'm still sending you an English teacher from someplace that I can't pronounce. lol
Give me a call- might have some things out your way if you have time

Thank you for understanding our perspective. I do think the members of this forum are very helpful with tips and tricks and discussions about individual opinions and ways to do things. A lot of people don't realize how many of the people on here make the pay everyday with the information that you're asking for here, Matteroner. How to PROPERLY install Simonis on the bed and rails... how to PROPERLY install subrail extensions and PROPERLY replace rubber....those are some of the things that separate me from any other idiot in the phone book pretending they do good work on tables.

Now I agree that you can't teach pride and work ethic in a sticky and that our jobs are probably not in jeopardy if this top secret info gets leaked, but in a weak economy, can you blame us for wanting to protect our livelihood?

no worries man ...I am just saying people are going to ask these questions ...the truth is that the info is on this site ...but you have to get creative with searches ....I pretty much went through the entire forum post by post looking for the info ...it's all there I printed it out as I went ....it's funny in some posts they say they won't reveal the info then I find it in some other obscure post plain as day...

I had a fun time doing my table almost done ...and have some new tools and saved some money ..... but it took a lot of work ....

all I have to say is that covering rails with the simonis and making it look decent was HELL ...and I think I would probably pay someone if I had to do that part over .....but cleaning up the sub rails putting on new rubber and facings ....and sanding them down was great....but it took forever...
even leveling with the machinist level has been fun so far ....

you guys are underpaid ...and I have to think that is what keeps the hacks in business ....that, and people not knowing or caring how exactly a table should look and play ...

we are just learning in my business as a vet, that you have to charge for what you do ....and charge at a decent rate ....but if you do something charge for it and explain to the client why you are charging what you charge ....when we started doing that are clients became happier and we made more money .....
