Sossei in final 3 at Derby.. Go USA...

In case anyone is interested, in the 9-ball at DCC, Jeremy played as good as anyone in the world. This week.

He had great break control, and was extremely clean in his runouts. I think he will always go under the radar. No idea if he does long sessions. But, other than Kiamco and Pagulayan, there was Jeremy. And these three were just head and shoulders above the rest. This week.

Freddie <~~~ think Sossei is in top 10 for tourneys

This thread went straight to the Mosconi Cup, ha. Congrats to Jeremy on a good showing, but obviously one tournament doesn't prove one player is better than another. However, based on the finishes last year, Jeremy probably should have had a starting spot. He'll have a chance to earn one this year at least.
That being said, it was a poor showing for the US Mosconi team at the Derby. Despite his 10 ball domination, Shane will be disappointed in his finishes, Bergman didn't really make any runs, and I won't even get into Schmidt.
More troubling was the fact that selections were based at least in part on "character" yet Hall (who played great all week) sleeps through a match and the 11:15 re-buy, and Schmidt - well he didn't have a great week..... With a ranking system in place, guys like Woodward and Dechaine (especially Dechaine) will have a good chance to make the team, too.

and if you *really* want to give yourself a better chance to make the team, move to St. Louis.

There, I said it.

I would have put Schmidt and Deuel on a bus and sent a Limo for Mike Dechaine and Jeremy Sossei.

Not to say Schmidt is a slouch. Jeremy had been steady and Schmidt has been almost unheard of. Mike was clearly # 2 rotation player in the U.S. and should have been there over Corey.

Schmidt has proven to break down as he did during the Mosconi and just now at the DCC. I have never seen Jeremy lose control, not saying he never misses or dogs it, everyone does at some point.

It doesn't mean they would have won with a different team.

It's not about who would win a race to 100, 000, 00 for the cash. It's about who earned and deserved to be on the team, and the coach being capable to coach different personalities.

I don't care who played the best match for the event, look at the overall picture and see how that worked out. A blind squirrel can find a nut.

The entire process from beginning to end was a mess and not looking better as of now.

God forbid you mention the name Mike Dechaine.
God forbid you say anything against Urban Meyer, oops, I mean Mark Wilson.

Money in pool is so weak if Jeremy and Mike were selected this year they may go, either for the guaranteed pay day or prestige. Everyone has their own values and morals and make their own choices.

I would tell Mosconi to take 9 balls, in rotation, and shove em where the sun doesn't shine if I were either one of them.
