3,4,5 from the left are amazing cues, i remember going into Jerrys shop and seeing the fancy cues off to the side, they were Jerrys pet projects and those cues remind me of those days, the fancy SW's are all Jerry, I remember him talking about them and his ideas for making unique looking cues for that market while making the regular 6 pt. cues as players but he made it clear that he would never build a cue that didnt play good, he wouldnt comprmise looks for performance. Those cues are a important piece of cue history-I'm not talking about $$$, but his passion. I couldnt afford one when he was building them but I have been lucky enough to see most of the fancy cues he was working on over a 4 year period and each year they were getting better and better, He offered to make me one and said to save my $$$ because it would take a long time, but I declined his offer because I was honest and said that I didnt know if I could make good when it was finished, despite that he was still offering to biuld me a cue. But I didnt pull the trigger, I have mixed emotions about that now.
Jerry was a cue maker first and an artist second, he was getting better and better, at the time of his passing. I remember one cue that was schimshawed by someone who did a terrible job, while he didnt say anything negitative(he had too much class to knock anyone) I could tell he was frustraited and hurt because he had his heart in the cue and the schrimshaw ruined the cue. He wanted different schrimshaw artists as I remember to do their work on his cues, this is a recollection of my memorie and i'm not 100% sure, i remember making a comment about finding a good artist to do all the work and he replied that he wanted more than one artist-i'm pretty sure that was his plan so different artists could make the cues unique as opposed to one artist that would make the cues all look similar with different pictures. I'm not 100% sure of this but i'm 80% sure he said that, he really liked schrimshaw work, we were talking about it in general not just cues. i miss Jerry.
