South West vs. Samsara

Never played with southwest but I have a samsara break/jump which I love. Purchased directly from Jim in Rugby, ND. He took the time at least an hour to give me a tour of his workshop. I believe Mike Fieldhammer, www.thebilliardcoach.com, plays Samsara cues. Go on his site and contact him.

$2000 vs $200

That plus waiting 7 plus years unless you buy one from a flipper.

I own a SW and it doesn't help me shoot any better than my Gina, Jensen, Gilbert, Kikel, Weston, RC 3, Bender, Lambros, Schon, or Deano. Never hit with a Samsara but I would bet that I would still play the same and miss the same shots.

Both are very good playing cues, both very good quality. SW is much more of an investment style cue than Samsara. You will pretty much always be able to sell your SW for what you paid for it. The Samsara, not so much so.

I agree with Joe.

Additionally, I've owned and played with both, and to be honest I prefer the hit and play of a Samsara. I personally did not like the hit of my Southwest... it played heavy with a thick, non-responsive hit. Very dead (it was a 4 point Ebony into Goncola Alves with 4 veneers). My Samsara had a much nicer hit in terms of feedback and feel (i.e. not dead or heavy)... it was just a plain jane/merry widow style.

Of course, this type of comparison is very subjective, but this was my experience.

For those who own both or have played with both, can you offer any comparisons?

Based upon their designs, and their construction method I do not think there can be an honest and accurate comparison.

They are both certainly quality custom cues, but in my opinion if you are looking to buy one or the other you are the only one who can find which is best by trying a number of both. When it come to a question like you are asking no ones opinion is more important than your's buddy.
