Southwest "alternative cues"

BTW, there is a Stacey (SP?), South West look-alike in the wanted and for sale section, and I think the asking price is $600 - 66% decline (from Roy's price). PLEASE, if anyone has a GREAT condition 1-2 year old South West for 66% off - LET ME KNOW!!

there's that cue flipper talk we're all so used to hearing. the people that're willing to buy these alternative cues are probably the people that aren't going to name drop, test hit, and then flip the cue. they're just going to use the cue to play with it

like the guy that springs for motrin when generic ibuprofen will get you the same end result.

I like the idea of knowing that I can pull my money out of a South West at any time and take no loss or a minimal loss at worse. It just makes more sense to me.

I've had two South Wests. Both have been sold. I got all my money back.

I play with a big pin McDaniel now.

> I made sure I was good and wet before I decided to make this post, because there may be flames headed my way.

I respect Mike Stacey,he's making cues and I'm not. Enough said there.

I personally don't care if I ever speak to Roy again.

With that being said, why would EITHER of them want to participate together in making cues that hit like an overpriced/slightly refined McDermott?

Unless that particular cue had Micarta or ivory ferrules, every single SW I've hit with felt like that, and that's not a knock. I'm just not a fan of the way they play. The ones I did like as mentioned before were generally older cues, and had either the ivory or Micarta ferrules.

If he really wants to do something like this, why not get someone to make cues that play the same as an original Gus or Black Boar? Tommy D.

Isn't it obvious that if SW's would sell for $$$ based on how they play, the value would be less, and it wouldn't be worth waiting 10yrs. at $2500. plus. The reality is most people who play pool can't afford a $500. cue. It would be nice to hear from some top players who shoot with them or are there any? I have never seen any of the top players using a SW except maybe Tommy Kennedy, and it looked like a pretty old one. So it seems to me that there are some people out there more interested in protecting the value of their investment, and I can understand that. I read on here all the time that its the Indian not the arrow, or is Efren's cue doing all the work, and he's just holding it.

So honestly was the Southwest Magic, has you game fall off with the McDaniel?

I sold my cues because I needed the money. I'm always looking for another South West.

Before I really started playing with the McDaniel, I was willing to give it and about $3000 worth of other cues up for the right South West. I suppose I'm just a fan.

Thank you Tommy D !!! Overpriced/slightly refined McDermott. You can still find a few nice D models for sale occasionally here on AZ. No 10yr. wait and probably a lot less than $2500. I know a guy from West Virginia that plays super with one.
